The race wasn't won by Honda HP, it was won by fuel limits. Ben was pushing Stoner was conserving more and was able to provide the power at the end. Fuel limits are going to hurt racing next year too in the 900cc (1000cc CRT) era...

bad move again by Bautista.

impatient lad. ruined the 1st part of the race. gutted for Ducati... another "what if" race.

Good riding by Ben, the ride of the day. Can't ask for more, best machine got the better of the best rider of the day.

Well done Cal, Karel! The battle kept me from watching HBO. :)

@ JimmyJimmy - Yes they can override it, but unless they have reason to think the electronics are on the blink, if the ECU has calculated that the power needs to be backed off to avoid running out of fuel before the finish, there's no point. If there was enough fuel at the last corner, both Stoner's Honda and the Spies's Yamaha should've been giving "full gas".

how close was buatista nearly being ran over by elias? fark that was close. nearly 2 deaths in 2 races.

i really believe they need to stretch out the starting grid, or put only 2 riders per row. this would space the riders out a bit more during the starts and make these incidents a lot less likely

P.S. Valencia is a long race and fairly heavy fuel consumption due to the stop start nature, but on the other hand the conditions meant they weren't lapping as fast as they would've done in the dry, (quite probably running a slightly softer engine mapping too), so it's doubtful that they were having to back the power down towards the end.

Fantastic race. Seemed like it would be procession esp. when 4 riders went down at turn 1. But it really turned out to a great battle for 2nd between Pedrosa, Dovi & Spies. The Honda went off the boil when the rain intensified & looked more like a Suzuki!
Stoner was the one going first on each lap & with no one ahead of him, he really had no reference to go by.
He definitely picked up the pace when Spies went through & just pipped him at the flag.
Rossi's race lasted all of 1 corner & really summed up the season for him, an embarrassing season by his lofty standards. No real headway with a truly troublesome bike & the "80 second crew" were made to look like amateurs. Nothing better than watching 2 loud mouths(Rossi & Burgess) made to eat humble pie!

@ah seng rossi's no1 fan

"how did stoner win the last corner?
1. honda has more HP
2. spies is heavier than him. look at both of them standing together. spies is way much taller.."

If what you are saying was true, then Stoner would have come over the top of Spies on the previous 2 laps he followed Spies onto the start/finish straight. But that didn't happened, pouring cold water on your theory.

Stoner out-dragged Spies to the line because Spies was a little tentative coming into and out of the last corner for the last time and Stoner was balls-out going for it coming into and coming out of the last corner for the last time.

I remember a win or two like this from other riders, including Rossi. When they did it, everyone was oooh-ing and ahhh-ing at the great display of riding, as they should. But when Stoner does it, out come the delusional 'explanations' from those wanting to paint Stoner's achievements in a poor light.

It was a great bit of rid

It was a great bit of riding. Why not do what we do for all the other riders who pull off such a move and give him a nod of "well done" instead of inventing BS to suit an agenda-driven picture of the world.

Power to weight means a lot and honda just showed that on stoners final pass,Can't wait to see Ben,JLo and Dovi on the 1000s next season, hope Dovi get full factory support on the Tech bike because he deserves it!
MotoGP teams must be wondering how Josh hayes flew under the radar this long, imagine how good he would be on a circuit he was familar with. Mabey indy or laguna wild card ride for josh next season.
Congrats to Casey he was by for the best rider this season, now bring on the 1000s!!!
