Stoner knew he can pass him easily with an overwhelming difference in horsepower and torque he administrated all year long. He just waited, and show to all people in the circus Honda has a perfect machine for next year.
Stoner is the right guy with the right bike with the right engine at the right team.

Minimum weight rule and the racing will be better

Fast guys will still be fast but things like this won't happen and it will even things out
It works in wsbk

Look for this to happen when moto1 (aka crt bikes) take over... the sooner the better

John give Ben more horses? Well of course every rider wants more power, but the factory Yamaha is certainyl not lacking any. It was pretty clear today that the Yamaha was the better bike on corner entry and mid corner, but the Honda was better out of the corners, which gives them a better run on the staights. Its also down to gearing, not power.

Stoner lost 8 seconds in 2 laps. I guess he backed off as he was leading and first into the rain, and expected the others to back off too. But that didnt happen lol! Well done Stoner and ben for a little entertainment at the end.

And well done to Cal for getting the better of Karel and Pedrosa!

That was heartbreaking watching Ben miss out on his second win but none the less a fantastic ride I congratulate on him on a stunning 2nd place what is more impressive about it is he missed two races and came back at the season finale and nearly beat all three Repsols. He will only get better and my hopes on him closing the gap up to the best guys in this class went up after this performance Elbowz will be one to watch on the 1000cc next year.

After the Vinales and Pirro win it could be perfect to see Spes take the victory, I was a little bit dissappointed, but he did a fantastic show and a great result to close a hard season. It reminded me of his Superbike days, I hope we can see this Ben more next year.

Gutted.... What's going on? Did Casey start using a 1,000 already? I just hope Yamaha closes the gap on hoursepower next year. Great race Ben, I feel for you brother.
Farewell to the 800's, and don't let the door hit you on the way out! Can't wait to watch the 1,000s!

There's no denying that Stoner's excess of acceleration enabled him to take the win, but before too many start to give praise to Honda horspower and the magic gearbox please consider this.

The run to the line at Valencia is not determined by horsepower or exit drive, it's limited by how you set up your bike NOT to wheelie. Both the Yamaha and the Honda where on the back wheel nearly all the way to the line, neither Stoner or Spies had the throttle twisted to the stops all the way, it was all about who could keep the front down and bike setup plays a bit part in that.

What the Honda was giving away in it's setup to the Yamaha at some parts of the track in handling, it was getting back in it's setup to use it's power to accelerate..

Best of luck to all riders in the upcoming tests :-)

Its the only MotoGP of the year I have not watched on fast forward in places.
How many passes did Dovi, Dani and Ben put on each other ? Great race that you didnt know who was going to win.

If you had seen the last corner replay from the helicopter camera, you would have seen that Spies either hit a neutral or his electronics cut in (for some reason) - he was not simply outhorsepowered out of the last corner, it was blatantly obvious that he stopped moving forward for a split second and Casey simply passed him.

Even though Ben lost by .015 seconds, he and Yamaha sent a message to Stoner and the rest of HRC that they should not get cocky for next season. And Spies, there's nothing a good burger from Dallas won't cure.
