@Juice - Spies was excellent, one of the most ballsy rides of the season for sure! But, lets not lose perspective, Stoner managed a 10 second gap for all but the last couple of laps and in all fairness he only lost the lead when he was overly cautious in the rain at the end. Even so, when it counted he made the Yamaha look like a battery powered scooter out of the last corner... hardly something that is going to make anyone at HRC lose any sleep. I'm looking forward to seeing Spies on a thousand, hopefully Yamaha will sort their **** out and be more competitive in all conditions next year!

Stoner made the comment earlier in the season the Honda's anti-wheelie was costing him acceleration and top end speed and chose to either disable it or turn it right down.

In either case, as with Stoners case of overtaking Lorenzo at Laguna Seca, you could see Lorenzo's Yamaha lift and drop it's nose a few times while Stoner's Honda just pushed forwards. Fast forward to yesterday and you could see the Yamaha's front wheel bouncing up and down (either Ben's fault or Yamaha's anti-wheelie) where Stoner's wasn't.

I feel sorry for Ben getting mugged on the line like that, but Nakano getting mugged in the 250's all those years ago by his teamate to lose the WC would have been tougher to take. What was Nakano's comment, something along the lines of being WC for the whole race except for the last 5 metres....

Hey wasn't that Caparossi on Harada on the black Aprilia 250's?

@Southerner - The closest finish I can remember in the top class was Criville beating Doohan by 0.002 seconds.

@dooooo it - I agree with your point about minimum weight limits which include the rider and machine, but WSBK doesn't have that - it has a minimum bike weight limit as does MotoGP and Moto2. The 125's are the only category of bike racing that have a combined minimum weight limit that I am aware of.

I Know that Stoner could take the win with the gap he pulled. But as the laps go by the weather played a crucial role in mixing up the situation. But I never thought Spies would become the darkhorse of that race XD. but anyway nice racing to the four of them surely they are doing their best to maintain their pace despite the weather playing at them.

Thank You Spies for giving an exciting race, and Hello 1000cc, hope this era could nullify the weight disadvantage of heavier riders like Spies, Rossi, Edwards and the others. To make the Race more Exciting...

Why is it that guys like you, have to deride stoner, at any opportunity,by making up excuses, as to why your boy didnt win, the yamaha is the superior handling bike in the field, the honda is the best at acceleration out of corners, and with stoner on the honda,he has proved it all year, and as for ben digging deep, and all the guts and everything bs,stoner slowed down, and then made a mistake, letting spies past, then the superior skill of stoner and his big cajones, came to the fore, as he said he rolled the dice, and that is what you call digging deep,so stop deriding him, and give credit where it is due, and admit that stoner on any bike is the difference

@ JohnMAF,
what overwhelming horsepower? In those conditions horsepower had nothing to do with it. The whole question was grip, horsepower is nothing if you can't get it down.
Yamaha's traction control lost to Stoners wrist.

I couldnt believe spies went cautious at the last turn knowing stoner was right behind him.

stoner should have won by a mile but wow, thats gotta burn for spies. stoner took the food right out of his mouth.

Went back and watched the finish again. Still looks to me like a good set-up by Casey, Honda grunt did the rest. As Spies said, Casey sucked the paint off the Yamaha as he went past. Great race. Probably doesn't burn Spies near as much as getting taken out in the first turn would.

What makes your boy, look soooo good in that race,is because stoner had a bad lap on 25 gaining him 5secs and a slight mistake when ben passed him,so going on that your boy should of been running away with it by then, but guess what, stoners last 2 laps were faster than bens, so figure that one out,i will leave that to you,as for speed only 3ks dif down the straight.
