what stoner did in 4 years with ducatti was something no one else could do with better bikes in the same period , had stoner gone to any of the other factories in 08 ( including suzuki) he would have had at least 2 more titles in the bag...anyone who follows the sport and takes good notice of what goes on all season every season should have no trouble grasping that stoner is a different species of alien to the rest , and rossi fans knows this , thats why they hate him so much , ...as for rider of the year!!!!..stupid question.

,being a blind fan is one thing (please go away).. Recognizing accomplishments in the face of adversity (and crap equipment) is what its all about.
JL -Got robbed with the crap effort that Yamaha brought to the table........ #2 is Stoner for yielding perfection better than the three other perfect bikes..... #3 Super Sic, once he controlled the rage, he showed true speed, his potential was never realized.....#4 is Alvaro,, making the ungrateful Suzuki relevant, he IS an Alien in waiting #5 is anyone on the true POS Ducati who didn't give up, so take out Caprex and Rossi for giving up. Those were the best. Now the most disappointing. Crutchlow - no better than Toseland. Aoyama - even without the injury, unexplainably slow. Rossi - the worst example of prima-dona excuses all year. If he stuck with the Nicky version, he might have seen a dry podium, instead, he pissed away the season, and wasted Ducati's money, thanks for nothing old man, you lost the edge.,,, sorry , must be the shoulde

Australian bloke...can't remember his name...but he's a bit good and I think he won the championship.

These CRASH surveys are so testing, I need to lie down. My brain hurts.

The death of Marco affected me...he was a fighter! However, he rarely finished a race until the end of the season. He was learning at an incredible rate how to take the fight the aliens and control his aggression, but went over the edge more often than not. For this reason, he was not the rider of the year.

On another note, Marco was by far and away the most "entertaining" rider of the year and left us all wondering what in the heck he was gonna do next! MotoGP is less interesting as a result of his loss, but his memory will carry us as we usher in young talent to offset the bland characters currently in the spotlight.

the question said, vote for rider of the year, not start arguing and slagging each other off, as a Rossi fan I was disapointed with this year but Stoner was rider of the year.

I don't get the disrespect for Stoner around here. I'm as jealous as the next non Casey fan but the guy is just flat out incredible. I can't tell you how bad I want Spies and Nicky to beat him, but to say he's lucky is ******* ridiculous! In hindsight what he did on that POS Ducati was truly phenomonal. No one else alive on this planet could replicate that. PERIOD! Not Rossi or Nicky or Dani or Spies or even Lorenzo could make that beast a winner. Give the dude his props, don't let your jealousy blind you from the truth!

@crash.net
your "recommended comments" ummmmm....do you actually read these things or just put up the 1st or 2nd comment that pops up? c'mon! there's tons of more inspired comments than: stoner=10 rossi=1.

@spiesunderdog

Crash doesn't assign them. The "recommended comment" is the comment with the most agrees (even if it's also the comment with the most disagrees).

The problem is that the recommended comment becomes self-fulfilling since it's the most prominent and has the agree button.

It would be better if they removed the agree/disagree from the recommended comment widget, but it would still be biased towards earlier comments (since they've been around longer to get more agrees).

A better system would probably be agrees minus disagrees. For example, a comment with 10 agrees and 1 disagree (+9) would rank better than one with 20 agrees and 20 disagrees (+0), IMO.
