@ LCTanner.
Hardly my first year watching GP racing, I've been watching GP racing since it's inception albeit the UGP for the first few years then as I got older by following the races I didn't see in the MCN.
As a devoted fan of GP racing, road racing and WSBK racing I have over the years had many favorite racers who I really liked, but to worship someone like a god, I don't think so. I still have fond memories of many racers too many to mention and to put one at the top of my list would be impossible as with the music I enjoy.
Over the years there have been racers who have been gifted a world championship Casey Stoner is not one of them nor was super Sic (RIP) who I believe would have been a future contender if not a WC.
You rubbish Stoner and say he was gifted two world championships one of which was on the Ducati, well how come he won more races on the Ducati than all the other racers put together 3 times as many, I know you will come up with many excuses that's easy, but are they

How did a race winning bike and regular podium placed bike turn into an also ran in the hands of the GOAT who is not only the GOAT but the greatest collaborator with his hand picked team??????????????
Please explain to this silly old man.

Rossi gets my vote....for providing entertainment and showing that he's all mouth and no trousers.

Stoner is of course the rider of the year. It goes without saying. Lorenzo is a close second. Dovi has been the most consistent and deserves his 3rd place.

The dissapointments of the season were of course Spies and Rossi. Both were bigged before the season started and both have been a dissapointment, Rossi more so.

Also a special mention to Marco Simoncelli, RIP #58.

Methinks asking people who their MotoGP rider of the year is just starts the usual insults being hurled left, right and centre!!
Can we not just have decent, creditable replies for a change? I know I somethimes tend to get roped in, but seriously folks, it isn't worth it is it ????

My Vote:
1) Stoner = 10 (It would have been another Yamaha championship by a canter without Stoner).
2) Lorenzo = 8
3) Dovi = 7
1) Rossi (if there was an option for zero, I would have chose it). After $15million big ones, 1x million excuses, i.eshoulder, hand, tyres, engine, frame, seating position, being too tall etc, and countless $millions more on developments. He was still a massive flop of epic proportions.

Stoner = 10
Lorenzo = 9

Then the rest in whatever order you please. As a huge Sic fan, I gave him a 7. That's a fair reflection of his wild start but strong improvement over the season. It's nonsense to inflate his rating because he is no longer with us.

Now that this poll has finished I went to see the results and I must say I was amazed.
Dani won, (1) why he knows the bike better than anyone and has known so for 5 years, yet Casey wins in his first year. (2) few seemed to think much of JLo even when he was Casey's main rival. (3) vale getting almost as many points as JLo even though he was not in the same class (he really has got his worshipers)
Who came up with this goat bull there is no such animal not in GP racing anyway Oh yes he won 9 WCs so what Ago won 15 Schwantz only won 1 but that 1 was well earned.
Duke won 6 but 2 of those 6 were on a far inferior bike
and that is before I even mention Hailwood, Doohan,Read,Lawson must I go on by now you should get my drift, all of the above and many more have been the greatest of their time.
Wake up and realize it's Gp racing not hero worship we watch.
