“It's clear that we must use less expensive bikes and if this is the only way I wouldn't have problems riding a CRT”

Let me see if I can wager this: If the field is entirely made up of CRT bikes and the teams are fielding machines that make the racing close and competitive for all then the team willing to pay Casey the most will absolutely see him on a CRT.

I said it in the RDP thread and the Sykes thread. CRT is here and although the facotries will balk a little and even threaten to remove themselves entirely- it won't last or even happen. There are too many variables to this for the factories to walk away. R&D of motors and transmissions will remain with the factories and chassis builders will shine since the CPUs will be "control" boxes by 2014.
The actual cost of racing per team will be reduced allowing riders to actually earn a salary instead of the play to play system that is happening with many teams now.
By 2014 the "production-based prototypes" will be producing as much power at the Factory prototypes are now and the reliability will increase over time.
As long as there's a show there will be riders to seat the bikes and fans at the track. BSB and AMA have slowly proven that you can control the cost and make racing closer.

2007 Facts: Stoner won in 2007 on the Ducati when it had the advantage of speed and tyres over other machines. This is the ONLY reason for him being WC. (10 Wins)

2008 Fact: Stoner got beat by Vale once Yamaha went to Bstones even though Stoner still had speed. Boy was he mad!!

2009: Fact: Rossi again WC and Stoner slipped down to 4th. (what's happening Casey) Still mad he has no advantage.

2010 Fact: Stoner finishes 4th and Vale after breaking leg and missing 4 GP's finished 3rd. Although Stoner wins 3 races he's still not a happy man.

2011 Fact: Stoner wins WC on Honda and really who did he beat on the same bike? Dani and Dovi?? who haven't done anything other than the odd win or podium. He beat Lorenzo but again using the Honda power (like Ducati in 07). All of us know that if Stoner stayed at Ducati he would have never won another title. He couldn't make it a Championship winning bike just the occasional race winning bike. He was good to watch on the Ducati as he is with the H

Easy fix, all bikes to use carbs and throttle cables, tank size any ok. That will get rid of a ton of costly electronics, the best rider with great throttle control should win, engines would be less powerful in order to get drivability so could cost less, and have a claiming rule for all the teams in case honda get carried away again.

just a quick question..... why is it that every time there is a story on here that happens to mention rossi and stoner more than half the comments aren't about the story but people bitching to each other about who their favourite is and why the other one is rubbish? I read comments on here and always expect the next one to say 'my dad is bigger than your dad'. get a grip!

How about we compare any two riders based on the time they were actually racing each other? People keep comparing Rossi's achievements in 16 years of racing to Stoner's 6. I must be a freak or something, because I like them both, which should not be possible, by the keyboard fighting we see here. Stoner's willing to ride around bike problems, Rossi wants to fix the bike before he pushes it. Rossi wants to race, Stoner, like Doohan before him, just likes winning and couldn't care less if it is by an inch or by a mile. I suggest we wait until they both retire and then look at the record books.
