This is seriously worrying for Yamaha and MotoGP.

How can they afford to pay Jorge and Ben's salary when they have no major backers?

Yamaha have already pulled out of WSBK and if things carry on the way they are, how much longer is the GP team going to survive in this climate?

Not good news for Yamaha, Hope they get some funding and stay competitive.

But if they really need it, I'll give them $100 to put my face on the entire left side fairing

Financially, the world's a tough place at the moment and Petronas won't be the last major sponsor to pull out. Yamaha will have to tough it out until things improve, unless they can somehow attact a Chinese, Indian or Russian backer.

Given the crisis the world economy is in and the direction it is headed, I think it's safe to say that the dissolution of GP sponsors is the last thing we will have to worry about, although it's a nice canary in the coal mine to have...
