Last year Rossi ended up 1.085s off the pace. He had a terrible bike and a sore shoulder that he claimed cost him at least 0.5s.

This year he has a wonderful bike and his shoulder is fine, and he ended up 1.217s off the pace.

I wonder what the excuses will be....

rain has robbed us of a time trial at the end of the test. casey on top and the yamaha's behind but we already knew that. What we still don't know is, where is the new Ducati at? Alex Briggs tweeted that they were still testing stuff when the rain came down. Clearly it's better though and only 50% sorted... promising..
Yamaha's season is already over, they didn't make any progress against Honda last eventually resorting to Rossi's old bike to improve performance , they're just as far behind now, if not more so, but have nothing to fall back on.. Game over..
Hopefully Ducati can bring something to the table.. Good luck all especially Ducati in the run up to the next test..

So Sepang 1 concludes with:

Stoner fastest - 1m59.607s from 50 total laps
Lorenzo - 2m0.198s from 105 total laps
Pedrosa - 2m0.256s from 109 total laps
Spies - 2m0.495s from 81 total laps
Rossi - 2m0.824s from 129 total laps
Barbera - 2m0.929 from 127 total laps

Stoner is so good with development, he doesn't seem to need to many laps to develop a fast bike, evidence by the small number of laps he required here and last year to setup the bike for Pole positions and Victories.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rossi did three times the number of laps Stoner did last year to make Ducati go backwards. As always Rossi has the latest and greatest bike, yet barely holds off Barbera to be fastest Duke.

Regarding the minimal difference between the Factory and Satellite Ducatis, perhaps the changes to the front bridgestone tyres means the Original GP Zeros would have worked alright (More feel) in the first place?

Yeah right??? Stoner already owns the fastest bike. He doesn't need to degelope a bike because If it was up to him, Honda would end up like Ducati!! They have already developed a bike for him after 4 years of work, trying 1w chassis a season sorts of things. I wonder how much money and homany chassis Honda tried this time !! Last year Rossi inherited a bike that been under Stoner's development for 4 years, now he's closed the gap by 1.2 on a 43 days old bike. There's more to come. Now Stoner thinks he's the god, lol. I think Marco(RIP) could seriously challenge him. He'll finally fall down badly, mark my words!!
