Further illustrates Stoners ability. Last year, after jumping on the HRC bike for the first time he was fastest in the test. Here Alvaro, a very capable rider, has shown how difficult that is.

Bautista has always been faster in a race than in qualifying, he will only become a front runner in moto gp if he gets better at qualifying. Randy Mamola reckoned at one stage that given the right machine that Alvaro could beet Rossi, not sure if he's that good but i do expect more from him on a Honda

Go Alvaro!

The rider in 2011 who didn't get nearly as much media coverage as he should have. He crashed a lot, but he rode that Suzuki hard and did his best and did better than many Suzuki detractors thought he would.

Will be cheering for him and Crutchlow in 2012!

Go Alvaro from 2 fans in the UK!

I was expecting more no?? It is only the first test I got high hopes for Alvro but I thought he would be a little closer to the front with that Honda.

Yes, but Casey jumped on the factory spec Honda. Alvaro is on the satellite spec bike. It's a big difference, especially since the honda engineers detune the satellite bikes so that they don't rev as high (true, plus it's easy to tell if you listen to the factory bikes followed by the satellite ones when you're actually at the race).

Not that I'm saying Alvaro would beat Casey on the same bike as I'm 99.9% sure he wouldn't. But Alvaro is damn close to Cal, Dovi and they'll be his main targets this year.

I guess he regularly caught 6 th on Suzuki so expecting him to be on few podiums this year. If he does not managed to do so, then he should start to plan for 2014.

I'll go so far as to say i think Alvaro will be top satellite rider this year. I expect some big battles with both Tech 3 riders. He showed great talent last year on the Suzy and coming from the school of hard knocks can often stand to a rider when he gets on something more proven.
