@ CRT. Yeah, the Ducati was definitely not the best stopper in GP since its inception back in 2003. With the M1,Valentino exploited the late braking advantage to the n'th degree with huge and spectacular success. To be fair, back then against the Ducati and Honda he could fool with his rivals and play to the crowd.
Back to Stoner's take on Laguna last year. He was never going to pass George on a front end half chance. He played to the M1 wheelie weakness and Honda drive to pull off one of the most spectacular passes in history without compromising his opponent in any way.
I won't be drawn into the Simmo/Dani incident last year. Simmo was rash,Dani was foolish within a short section of a long race, yet to be played out and Rossi lucked out as a result.

@ Southerner,

The purpose of the DP statement was not to hash up an incident, it was mearly to point out that the ability to brake late and hard with your hair on fire has more to do with the machine than the rider.

With the softer carcuss of the Mich tires, Rossi would hammer the front brakes to flatten the tire, thus creating a larger contact patch and then release pressure and modulate the brakes to slow his bike. Not sure how that is working with the BS tyres as I haven't been able to find anything on it.

Ali won his championship, one fight at a time.
Casey says he looks at no defense but at one race at a time.
This guy is now very very head strong, on a great bike with the right team, proven results and knows who he needs to beat.
3 contenders NOT 4 but I believe it will be a great season whatever happens

I have been watching this thread and saw a lot of the comments before they got deleted. Amazing the hate that people spew around here. I thought it was just Stoner fans, but it is Rossi fans as well.
Stoner is not a commentator, he is a motorcycle racer and right now the man to beat for whatever reason. It would be nice if people here could put away their hate and just an opinion without all the crap.
I don't agree with all he said and think he contradicts himself when talking about the Honda on one hand it is basically the same as the 800 and the other it is completely different. And when you don that #1 plate, it is a target to be defended. But that is just a difference of opinion.
The only thing that was wrong with what he said was they didn't ask more questions and get more answers. The waiting is murder, and a small tidbit like this helps break the monotony.

@ Mick, So what exactly is racing all about?? Surely it is about winning races so that you end up with most of the points so that you win the championship!! It is ridiculous to say you are not bothered about the championship because that is why you are there!! What do you think Honda would say??????

McLaren, you arent thinking about what Stoner is saying. He only thinks of the championship in terms of one race at a time.He does not start the season with the thought of winning the title. He takes one race at a time and he sees how things progress as the season unfolds. It is all too easy to see the chequered flag too early and lose focus. If you make statements from the word go that you aim straight off to win the title then you are heaping more pressure on yourself than there is already.Dont worry about what Honda are thinking. They are quite happy with the way Stoner is conducting his campaigns so far!
