MotoGP » Edwards and Suter CRT three-seconds from Stoner

“We are now 3.2 seconds from Stoner, not bad after only six days of testing a circuit as long as Sepang!"

I can't help but wonder (as I've said a few times already) what the FTR machines would do with better, maybe more experienced, faster riders on. Look how lacklustre the Suter's times were before Colin rode it? He was immediately over a second faster than anyone else before him. And Sepang is a much longer circuit to Jerez. I would like to see the Aprilia machines up against Mr Edwards now.

I think, come the begining of next season, it's be a different looking prospect for these bikes. The development is paying off.

Know it will never happen, but can't help but wonder how Max would do on an Aprilla CRT machine, he seems to be in sync with the superbike version, last weeks WSB comeback from last place to second was amazing.

@Canadian fan

what makes you to believe Max isn't on Aprilia CRT bike? I'd bet all the improvements they make to chassis, engine and especially electronics which are no banned by WSBK rule book are on Max bike.

WBSK performance is mostly tire limited, if you figure traction control to make tires last you will be step ahead of everyone else.

Also B-stones have much more chatter then Pirelli.. do you think the chassis improvements they make will not help Max?

If you look at the analysis from the final day on the MotoGp site that bike is a lot more than 3 seconds away from the leading times, other than a couple of hot laps, he was putting up Mid 2.05 and Low 2.06's, this was on runs of around 5 laps. Lorenzo on the other hand put in a run of around 19 laps, averaging mid 2.01's, the highest being a low 2.02. The Suter is still a long, long way off the pace.

The Aprilia CRT will be the top CRT and I think competitive overall even compared to regular MotoGP bikes. Just look at Biaggis race in WSBK at Philip Island.. that must have been MotoGP speed all over.

Yep, most likely the RSV4 based CRT bike and the WSB RSV4R bike are one and the same. Max has been a huge factor in the development of the CRT bike in a round about way

My prediction:

Mugello -3 weeks: Speculation builds that Max will wild-card on a ART.

-2 Weeks Max releases a statement that he is focussing on his WSBK campaign and will not feature. Rossi states that he would retire if Biaggi beat him.

-1 Week Max says let's have some!

Raceday, Rossi is soundly beaten by Max who finishes a respectable 5th.

Raceday +1 - Rossi walks away from racing. Blaming Ducati and his injuries.
