MotoGP » Valentino Rossi still far from the 'front'

“I can't load the front enough to enter fast, so I don't carry enough speed through the corner, and that's why we're far from the front”- Valentino Rossi.

Talk about kicking a man when he's down. VR is what 33 yrs old, this is the prime time of a motorcycle racer, not the end. Just because the paddock is full of kids doesn't mean a rider is over hill in his early 30's. Sh1t I still race and win, and I'm well old.

Rossi is by far the greatest- stats and world championships in the books! Stoner has a way to go before he can be consider "one of the greats" and will never surpass Rossi. For now, how relaxed and confident Ducati are persuing the new 1000 era while all you guys are sooo excited about "he can't do it". Maybe you do not recall, during the Rossi era, any year he did not win title his teamate did- that is true teamwork genius. Just suppose team Ducati takes the 2012 championship- would anyone be surprised that like no other rider, team Rossi again outwitted the world's largest factory teams. Ducati will continue to laugh all the way to the bank! Go Vale!!!

Years ago there was a rider in Australia that was always complaining about his bike etc etc , back in the seventies I think. If I rememeber his name was Wayne Kerr from NSW. Rossi sounds just like him now.

Scaleman,

Is that another poor attempt at justification of Rossi's poor performance claiming that if he didn't win his team mate did?

2006 Hayden Repsol Honda

2007 Stoner Ducati, would have been good to see them as team mates but remember Rossi blocked Yamaha from signing Stoner

2010 - you got 1 out of 4 in recent history

2011 - Stoner Repsol Honda - Rossi jumped on his winning Ducati.

Its a statement that is right up there with "Hayden is faster because he has more time at Ducati"

Rossi brought his entire team over, far greater continuity.

Hayden rode with Rossi cast off parts most of 2011

The bike has a twin spar Al frame as per Rossi's request just like every bit of development since Valencia 2010
The desperation to explain a simple lack of effort is laughable.

@Scaleman

Dude you need to open your eyes otherwise you'll miss what's happening..

If you can ignore the popularity contest, both Spies and Hayden have said that Stoner is possibly the most naturally talented rider of the modern era.

Now go look at YouTube...how different riders are with clips drifting the 800's? (not the old 990's which were easy to slide by comparison)...well they all belong to one rider

And what about his achievements on the Ducati POST 2007...Melandri's comment after the first ride of the GP9 "I cannot race this bike" (posted on Crash.net) and Haydens comment after the first ride of the GP10 "whatever they're paying Stoner It's not enough" (printed in a local Kentucky news paper)

So pop down to your local GP and have a look...at least you'll be able to tell your grand kids you were there

re: "Ditch the L, go for narrower V"

no.

re: "They need to change the 90 degrees engine and make it like 45"

HELL to the no.

re: "The 90-degree configuration is a serious problem"

the serious problem is they've never worked with aluminum and are dependent on someone else to make the frames for them. frames are cheap, in contrast retooling an engine is the most expensive and time consuming endeavor in motogp.

I think Rossi is playing mind games, on the last day of testing he will be second on the time sheets, only 2 tenths from stoner, and ready to fight for wins. JB will say I found some good set up and rossi will win the first race. am i dreaming, I can not except that after all the changes the bike is that bad. The bike has been hand built for him. Odds are 7 to 1 at the moment on paddy power.com for rossi to win the champ.
