MotoGP » 'Pleased' Valentino Rossi bins 'bad setup'

“We made some mistakes at Sepang II chasing a bad set-up. We changed the set-up, first the rear and then the front, and now I enter the corners pretty well again” – Valentino Rossi.

@amfan

Fair doos, I hadn't seen the lap times. Will have a closer look to see how they compare to the other guys long stints.... Just hope that the Ducs can compete with the Yams and Hondas for the sake of a good season.

@amfan

Looking at the average times for the longer stints that are posted on crash the distance from Rossi to
1. Stoner - 1.4s
2. Lorenzo - 0.8s
3. Pedrosa - 0.7s

Stoner is the only one who has got so close to his fastest lap during the longer stint. The gap from Rossi to JLo and Pedrosa is about the same as the gap between their respective fastest flying laps. So what would you read into this?

stoner only did 10 laps, lorenzo did 26 ,danny did 26 ,rossi did 14,stoners 10 doesnt actually tell you that much ,other than hes really fast for half of a race ,rossi s 14 tells another story hed did his fastest lap on the last lap, hes about half a second slower than danny and .6 slower than lorenzo i think that is a really positive showing at a tight track like jerez ,sort out the understeer and they will be close to podiums all makes good for a closer championship this year.

can u imagine if rossi got on form and was capable of winning races.

things would really heat up between 46 & 27

but u also have lorenzo who is looking incredibly fast in a lap, when his strength is definitely his consistency since '09.

and ofc dani who if not plagued by injuries every season is a contender for the title.

i only hope for a miracle cure by qatar for the cancer that rossi is riding, then we will have some real racing, and by 3 different manufactuers no less

Amafan, yes maybe so but as Rossi himself says the bike is like 7 test days old, the others have had a year, and with frames they have decades of experience in. A smiling Rossi is a deadly Rossi. To be under second to the fastest and .6 to the consistent podium threats means that he can certainly challenge, and yes I agree that his supposed race sim was not spectacular but see sentence one. If Rossi can consistently be on the second row I rate him for a number of podiums this year, and if they close the gap further maybe some wins. I would like this to occur as we can see how Stoner goes when he has a few people sitting on his tail (maybe he will punch them?).
