Hopefully by 2013 the CRTs will be far stronger with a year of development, and not seen as a step down from WSB. If that does happen we could quite conceivably see a whole bunch of WSB riders come to MotoGP, as they will actually be able to afford it.

for sure, they'll be stronger. and at some point they won't be seen as a step down, but that's not to say they will ever be seen as a "step up"...? without SBK's being dumbed down, the best CRT will achieve is status as a "lateral move". besides the bikes, gp's suffer from a lot of other negatives and it's a tall order to erase 25 years of stable history with what will essentially be a "freshman effort" for the first 5 years of it's life (assuming it even makes it THAT long?).

re: "If that does happen we could quite conceivably see a whole bunch of WSB riders come to MotoGP"

for damn sure we won't see any of that so not conceivable in the least. that mass exodus ALREADY occured. it was a disaster. the current trend for the foreseeable future is the continued defection OUT of motogp towards WSBK, M2, and domestic series. see entry for melandri. see entry for aoyama. see entry for elias. see entry for sofoglu. M1's primary feed will only ever be M2. nobody leaves a paycheck to go ride for free, but you might be able to sucker someone who's ALREADY riding for free to sacrifice their life on the "alter of motogp". WSBK is one of those rare instances where the grass truly IS "greener" on the other side ($cha-ching$). just ask gp "ne'er-do-wells" biaggi and checa how many recent championships they've got between 'em...? educated riders know CRT's flaws extend deeper than just short term problems with the kit.
