'I didn't make a great start and lost a few positions and that is a bit disappointing because I'm sure I could have been much closer to the top three' - Cal Crutchlow

"not to take anything away from crutchlow but i'd like to remind everyone that this was dovi's first race on the tech3".

It was also Crutchlow's first race on this bike, as well as all the other Yamaha riders. This is not the 800cc bike from last year. It is totally new and should be as unknown to Cal as to Dovi.

I said 2 years ago that Cal's results in SS were every bit as impressive as Spies' results in WSBK and this race does nothing to change my mind.

After watching that race I think Yamaha should be looking to draft Cal into tho works team instad of Spies, maybe they will after his derisive tweet that the bike was unrideable as it had alraedy been crashed twice and they had no spare !

Cal looked so at ease behind Dovi, see them brakes light up with him, that is confidence with the tyre.Yes I do think its the tyre that suits now and is allowing him to ride the gp bike like the wss.

im at a loss to understand the comments that cal is arrogant.i hear the same levelled at many racers, maybe down to people meeting them at race meetings when the last thing on their mind is talking to anyone but race engineers.
having ridden with cal on a trackday and had a good yak with him in between sessions ,a nicer bloke you couldnt meet.
it was scary to realise how easy he was taking it ,watching him turn round after every corner to make sure i was still there, while i was almost crashing on every corner with my eyeballs almost touching the inside of the visor ! fastest ive ever gone round that circuit though !

@Rab27 - couldn't agree more about arrogance label he's got. It's undeserved. Confidence and arrogance are often easily confused.

Arrogance is continuing at full race speed after the flag ending a session just cos you missed time due to a problem earlier, and putting a rider in hospital with serious injuries, or pulling sharply over in front of a rider you have barely passed, putting him off track and then having the nerve to say its ok because you had some hard moves made on you by other riders! If Marquez ends up in MotoGP next year like is highly expected he needs to lose the huge chip off his shoulder first.

I doubt anyone could have placed better on the Tech3. Crutchlow is surprising me tbh, I didn't realise he was this good.
Last year he only began to show promise at the end of the season.

I think Cal and Dovi represented Tech 3 very well at Qatar. Clean, hard racing not too far off the front runners. Just where you'd expect two satellite bikes to be with a pair of good riders.

Stoner and Lorenzo both had their share of difficulties getting past Dovi last year so I wouldn't expect Cal to sail past.

Absolutely awesome ride and result for Cal. His start wasn't the best but he soon passed 3 0r 4 riders before engaging on his race long battle with Dovi. He has certainly made the factory Yamaha team sit up and take note - Lin Jarvis was very complimentary after the race.
Keep it up Cal the podium won't be too far away!
