What I don't get is why these kind of mechanical mess ups happen on Ben's side of the garage all the time. You never see Lorenzo dropping from the front like that due to a bike problem. Either Ben can't ride around the problems or his crew creates a hell of a lot of issues.

@whywhy,

I kinda have to agree with you on this one. While Ben rode around several problems in WSBK, I don't think the same is happening here. He is a terrific rider, but his confidence must be on rapid descent at the moment.

I also doubt his crew would take this much blame if it weren't true. Who would ever hire them again after Ben?

Disappointing start, but after 4 rounds I'd bet the points are almost evened up. Everyone crashes, has bad days, or equipment issues.

re: "The chatter suddenly appeared on Ben's bike in warm-up and we couldn't solve it before the race, said Meregalli. "We're not sure why it was yet"

perhaps now we see more clearly bridgestone's wisdom and why the previous tyres were made as stiff/hard as they were. all's we've done with this "circle jerk" is trade warm-up complaints for chatter compaints. that's all we've done. (see entries for stoner and rossi, also guys with similiar heavy front loading styles as ben)

despite how long and far we may search for it, you'll only come full circle back to the realization... "there's no free lunch". it doesn't exist. tyre construction (especially moto-side) will always, always, always involve compromises. same as in life, the secret to success is finding the ones (ie. compromises) you're willing to live with.

ok..i hav got nothing against Ben...

but stoner complains of chatter almost every session and still manages to come 1st

Ben experiences chatter and comes from 5-3 (that you would expect from a factory yamaha) to 11th.....

Ben tweeted yesterday "That's what happens when u ride a bike that's been crashed twice....#nobackupchassis"

So I'm assuming he believes he picked up the chatter from the 2nd crash of the weekend in QP. I know he went out of the back up bike after his first crash the day before but had to pull in because of electronical problems. So I'm assuming they never got that sorted and had to fix the primary bike after the first and second crash. He was fast all weekend up until warm up so I'm assuming the bike wasn't right after they repaired it the 2nd time.

With the problem of chatter coming up I guess Ben had three choices. Bring the bike in and park it, try to ride around it (and probably bin it), or back it down and finish with something (good choice). What great rides from Jlo, Dani, Cal, and Dovi. I'm pulling for Ben to get the ship turned around and get going. It was such a buzz kill after all this waiting to see Ben finish 11th.

From what the team says the issue occurred out of nowhere in warm up and it was with the crashed bike. They have another one in the garage. If you can't fix the issue with one bike and the problem just suddenly appeared, wouldn't the logical step be to put the same setting on the number 2 bike and see if the same happens?

I'm a fan of Bens and he'll always be a champion in my book with his WSBK and AMA titles. This past race he looked pathetic, unprofessional and not ready for prime time. It's time to give up the foolish bicycle racer obsession. Does he want to be the next Lance Armstrong or a MotoGP champion? His off season routine of not riding motorcycles and exhausting himself on bicycles clearly is not working, unless being a fast bicycle rider is more important to him than being winning MotoGP rider.

seems a little unprofessional to me,this is the big game,where they spend zillions,for yrs the no1 bike has had problems(crash etc)but they have a no2 bike for a reason,a back up.your supposed to be able to jump on it and be ready to race,the no2 bike should be ready to go,in some teams ive seen them with the second bike warmed up and ready incase there is a last minute problem with the no1 bike.question is why was no 2 bike not ready,why if it had an issue was this not fixed,its called a back up for a reason,this sloppy team work just caused spies to have a poor result,or maybe worse if he ends up in a title fight,will it happen again,he should be pizzed off at this
