there is not enough parts to test to warrant both riders using up tyres .
basically hayden gets the nod because of missed opportunities through injury , personally i think vale is in more need of understanding the bike more than haydo.

Nicky finishes above Vale in one race and now, according to people on here, he should be their number one rider?!?!?!?

Ha, Rossi haters are just as blind and annoying as the Rossi fan boys

Vale finished above Nicky last year, even though it was Vale's first year on the Ducati.

Did everyone just forget that????????

I'm not saying Vale has painted himself in a great light the past few months, but he is still deservedley their number one rider.

"I'm not saying Vale has painted himself in a great light the past few months, but he is still deservedley their number one rider."

Why? He hasn't painted himself in a good light since the last time he won the championship. I used to root for Rossi but he's starting to remind me of Biaggi.

I think a lot of people here are missing the point.

Nicky hasn't been "given the nod" to test over Rossi, or promoted to "no 1 rider", and neither is he breaking any in season testing rules.

This is because Nicky missed pre season tests through injury and now gets to make the days up so he is not at a disadvantage.

I do concur with a lot of the sentiment that Nicky is doing a really good job, digging in and scrapping when others on the bike look demoralised. Go #69, good job.

I'd love to hear why people are disagreeing with me. Rossi DID finish above Hayden and it WAS Rossi's first time on the Ducati. How can you disagree with that unless you just like slagging Rossi off?

If Hayden is so much better than Rossi, and had been riding the Ducati since 2009 surely, according to you, he should have beaten Rossi last year?? If not, why didn't he????

DBB you're not getting the point. Nicky isn't whining about the bike. He, like Stoner, are doing the best they can with what Ducati will give them. Rossi, on the other hand, just whines about it. He needs to adapt to the bike or he'll never finish anywhere near the podium.

Hayden is humble guy and doing the best he can with an inferior bike. It worked for Stoner -- and keep in mind the competition with figure out how to squeeze more power. Ducati, if they want to compete, needs to listen to the riders or the riders just need to deal with it and ride.

Just as a reminder..... go to Youtube and search for Casey Stoner Ducati and watch him ride that thing. Then think of Rossi's comments on how the bike is a "unrideable".

Rossi finished JUST above Hayden last year. He also crashed a billion times. For the GOAT, finishing one place ahead of Hayden isn't something to hang your hat on. And yes, it was Rossi's first year, but the GP11.x was a new bike for the both of them. Hayden did far better on the Screamer than he did on the Big Bang. Now, it's not about the motor, but what changes Rossi had been asking of the Ducati. This is precisely why at Yamaha, there were two configurations - 1) the one Rossi developed and 2) the one Edwards developed that everyone else rode. Two years apart from Rossi and the Yamaha is CLEARLY the better 1000cc bike on the grid for ALL riders.

hmm....i dont have any doubt of this guys talent....he could go upto the top 3-4 in the first few turns in quite some races last year

what i find wrong is the kind of feedback he gives...

whole last year we had rossi complaining of the front end while hayden didnt say anything much....the new bike comes and suddenly hayden finds it the best front end feeling ever....

now he isnt facing the understeer rossi does....will have to wait and see what he feels once the bike is updated....

regarding the test, rossi needs more time than hayden....seing the way the bike feeling turned upside down with 4 small changes(in qual. in Qatar), rossi surely needs a proper setup...they cant afford to screw up again
