Cals pace has never been in question, apart from by the largely Yank contingent who predicted he'd be wobbling around at the back and was undeserving of his place on the grid. It was a BBC/passport thing..

We can put that to bed now and hopefully he can prove a thorn in Ben and Dovis side during the '3 into 2 don't go' race to secure a seat next year @ Yamaha by improving consistency now he has a year under his belt and is on a 1000.

Shiny side up Cal and best of British..

Problem for Cal - and Dovi - is that even at this early stage the satellite Yams simply don't have the strength of the factory bikes. The electronics don't give them the same drive out of corners, and the upgraded and larger Brembos fitted to the works M1s provide more effective stopping power (Which was why we saw the brakes glowing red hot on the Tech 3 bikes in Qatar.)

Realistically a top 5 and another good battle with Dovi would be a good result for Cal at Jerez. But a podium would require some misfortune from the factory runners I think.

I'm a big fan of Cal's. I'm looking forward to some battles between him and Dovi. Both of them have a lot of talent and a lot to lose so there'll be fireworks in that garage.

The Monster boys will both see a couple of podiums this year. Ben should be quite worried at the speed of these two as well.
