MotoGP » Rossi: We have a base to start from

"By the end of the three-day test in March, we had found a decent set-up for the GP12, so we have a base to start from" - Valentino Rossi.

I really hope Rossi can start winning with the Ducati. Last year I expected him to be challenging for podiums by the sixth race but I was sadly let down. My respect for Stoner as a racer went up by 100% but I'm still hoping Rossi can tame the Ducati and win another championship in the Premier class :)

The financial world is full of cloak & daggers, smoke & mirrors, people on various points of 'the curve' and inside info.

I have to wonder if the timing of Rossi's criticism & race result and the Audi buyout were more than coincidence of timing.

Wouldn't it be curious if the Ducati actually has good results from now on. LOL. You never know!

Routinely? Careful with the wording. WHO "routinely" matched or beat Rossi in 2011 on equal/similar machinery? It surely wasn't Barbera nor Hayden, so I have a hard time comprehending who you are referring to.

@ Milan

There are plenty of reasons why Rossi is having issues despite being the superior rider. Last season Rossi was the top Ducati rider in all but a couple of races (because of crashing mainly).

The reason the other Ducati riders are beating him,is that they have the bikes set up with the weight on the front.
Rossi is trying to set his up like a 250,to suit his style in previous years. You can see it with the forks, and the front end all jacked up.
It isnt working.
Mick Doohan said when he was racing ,"its what the bike needs".
The Ducati doesnt seem to like his way of riding,he doesnt seem to want to change,so we'll keep seeing rubbish finishing positions.
The Ducati went fast with Stoner onboard, because he rode it by giving it what it "needed".
Melandri,Rossi are all trying to make it do what they want,it just wont.

If Rossi and JB cannot outperform the other the other Ducs then it may be time to put the Rossi legend to rest. JB explained how Casey would back the Duc into a corner, let off the brake just before highsiding, then gas it. Rossi is either unwilling or unable to do this. In virtually all sports, technique and performance improve over time. Youth shall be served.
