This Sunday at Jerez should see Valentino Rossi become only the third person in motorcycle grand prix history to clock 200 premier-class starts.

I am sorry but the guy who said that Alex Barros career was a failure is delusional. ANY of the riders who make it on to a GP bike at all have made a success of their career. These are the creme de la creme and even getting there shows them to be special.

Congratulations to Valentino and what he has done through all his starts is entertain and today, like it or not, HE is the reason that the sport has the popularity that it does.

pp you speak about Alex sound like you make guilty the own Barros of no winning a championship...mmm let me remember he stay in an oficial team 5 times but 3 of them with not soo much competitive Cagiva, and 2003 i think with Yamaha, injury and not also soo good bike, and what a fake by Honda for 2004, what a joke, Honda give it all to Gibernau and Biaggi, while the two officials Repsol Honda exhaust like a satellite, Honda should do a FAKE MANUAL, they are the Champions of FAKE, if i where Honda my face fall directly to floor by embarrasment, really, they promise always much much much more more more, and when you arrive at official because they dont find nobody, they give you bad material, HONDA GO TO HELL FAST, VERY FAST PLEASE!

MotoGp was popular long before Rossi showed up and will be long after. What he has done though is attract a whole following of uneducated non-racers and probably non-motorcycle riders. So as was said if you hang around in something long enough you get some sort of milestone but is this enough when no results are coming?
It looks very likely that no full factory team are remotely considering his services as wanted next year in MotoGp.

Rossi will be back with yamaha tech3.
or he wil leave motogp.
he said i want another contract, but sure it won't be with ducati.
Ducati let all riders look sick. they send riders to psyco doctors!
they dont listen to riders.
pillipo should be working in the circus.
and the first panigale already has lose the front!!

"What he has done though is attract a whole following of uneducated non-racers and probably non-motorcycle riders."

Rubbish. I've been a biker since 1988 and it was Rossi that brought me to GP's in 2000. Since then I've been an avid fan of MotoGP, WSB and BSB. I know a lot of other bikers that now follow MotoGP because of Rossi who brought a sense of "fun" to the sport.

That comment is very elitist and snobbish!

Why are riders who are not quite at Stoner's or Rossi's level in their career considered losers by so many? To race and win at this level is an incredible accomplishment, and it only speaks to how special guys like Rossi, Stoner, Roberts, Doohan really are. If everyone could ride like them, they wouldn't be special, would they?
