Nicky Hayden is very politically correct and toes the company line too much and has been second to Stoner and now Rossi. Stoner was something special and Nicky knew that but I hope he is brave enough to not give Rossi his data ( probably too proud to ask though) and gives Rossi the wall and gets his own mojo back.

I have been reading every possible commen oin this site for months about Rossi and I love everyone that gets all technical and explains 'what is wrong' hahaha if it was that simple for some no name to come on here and say what is wrong with rossi's bike don't you think it would have been sorted. If anyone is as confident as they sound on what is wrong why are you not working at Ducati right now!!!! I'm pretty sure they would snap you up straight away if you could in two paragraphs tell them what's wrong like you do on here!

You can all speculate what is wrong but clearly nobody knows what is exactly wrong with the bike it self or else they would have stopped wasting money and time and just sorted it! As for Rossi, he only knows what mentally is going on in his head so that's not even worth discussing!

What surprises me most about this whole issue is how illiterate many of the respondents are.

I think Rossi is a spent force. He cannot be 3.5 seconds of the pace and still be considered a major contender. Even an aging Capirossi was only less than 1 second off the pace on an uncompetitive Suzuki when he was riding.

Rossi won in his first year on the yamaha because he rode around its limitations. He can no longer do that. He has lost something. Who knows what it is.

Burgess has made semi veiled comments that perhaps Rossi is the problem now.

While i was suprised Rossi hasnt been able to at least get some podiums on the Duc, if you take stoner out of the picture who out of all the talent thats been on a ducati has ever done anything?
Louis yes
Tory kinda
Anyone else? Sete until the massive crash was going well after that moment i think ducati have had problems

It's taken Nicky a good few years to master the Ducati after being on a Honda. Melandri was the same. Stoner joined Ducati from LCR Honda, not a factory. It seems to me that the trend is if you're used to riding a factory Honda or Yamaha, you will not just jump on a Ducati and win races. Stoner was used to battling with the bike every race on the non factory honda, hence why he bossed it. Maybe the Factory Yamaha and Honda riders are too pampered with electronics and aids. The ducati HAs to be actually RIDDEN as it doesnt have the crazily good electoronics. I think Rossi will need a few years to be able to ride it. No fault of his, but more the Factory Yamaha and Honda teams?

This is purely based on observations. If im wrong then please enlighten me. Would like to hear feedback on this theory. Cheers!

You can be sure Nicky has ZERO say in what is done with his data..

You can also be sure that Rossi has rights to all Ducati data in his contract. Why would this year be different from any other in his career?

He is better than this, I think he has given up, I bet if the current amount of effort was getting him second he could easily lift his pace and win, the trouble is if he tried his hardest he would probably only be midfield and that kind of result doesnt motivate him so he is not bothering, he needs a performance based contract.

@bensudgeon

I'd say your probably wrong. Probably very wrong. A lot of extrapolation from very little data. Capirossi took podiums and a win on that duc, Baylis rode it once and smashed the field by 10 seconds, including stoner. And stoner, well, he won lots of races on it.
Why I say you're probably wrong is because we've no idea what level of electronics are at any of the bikes. All we have to go on is that stoner is quick on the Ducati and Rossi isn't.

I'd also say that stoners satellite Honda in 06 wasn't far off factory to start with. He got pole on that bike, last satellite bike to do it. I don't remember anyone claiming it was an uncontrolable beast. Rossi isn't the rider he was, plain to see, hope he gets back to it but try not to make such huge assumptions based on very little facts... We hear very little of what really goes on and understand even less

@BenSugden .
cappo and malandri were on satellites before they when to ducati so factory pampering (as you put it) is out of the question.
ducati is simply just a hard bike to ride , especially at the pace stoner has brang along with him.
so i can't see your blame of yam and honda for vales performance on a ducati as anything other than another way to try and cover vale with a warm blanket and protect him.
@Nate Doggius.
stoners lcr was a simple satellite bike , lcr was a new team with a low budget , stoner did well on it , but the michelins were his real problem.
