Sorry to re-post this, but this is the proper thread:-

I'm intrigued that Nicky has become the new #1 rider of Ducati lately. People are saying that he is capable of running with the front runners and it is a shame that his tyres went off. Rossi spent the first 11 laps getting used to a new setup (his modified version of Nicky's) and then got faster and faster, setting a lap 3 tenths quicker than Nicky on his penultimate lap. Any explanation? Were they on the same tyre?
I see any hope better than no hope, and if Rossi gets the bike better then Nicky will get better results too.

So after spending so much time and money changing the bike , he has finally decided to put in some effort to change the way he rides to accommodate for the difference in the Ducati ?

Have they made any progress from the start of last year ?

Apparently they are still learning with this bike ... I think if you keep changing the bike your always going to be re-learning how to get the maximum out of it.

It seems Duati have confused themselves and now do not know what to do ...

speaking of tweets. A good one was when they started releasing rider statements about this new nicky setup and rossi's own mechanic replied with a ummmm really? like he had no idea about this. sounds like maybe some bs pr to me to try and recover from his last rant because he knows there's not another factor ride out there for him.

but i will agree he needs to learn to ride the duc. maybe even go back to the carbon frame with a screamer 1000 in it and atleast pass the mid pack guys down the front straight and block them around the rest of the course till they crash like the famous stoner rossi battle.

no hope to be found there. nicky just killed his tires fighting early while rossi just rode around getting used to the bike, then had more tire left at the end. not that any rider wants to do it but had nicky taken it easier on the tires by just letting the faster bikes go and managing his tire wear better he probably would have finished a spot higher and closer to the front.

but who wants to ride like that. at least he had fun for a few laps.

It's been pretty obvious lately that, yes, Rossi needs to alter his style at least somewhat for the bike, and it's almost not surprising it's taken this long for him to really come to grips with that. His resume speaks for itself and sometimes you need to be completely broken down in order to build back up. He seriously needed to change his outlook on his situation and it took abject misery for that to happen.

ducati design philophysy is wrong and rossi has realised that they wont change, he will tow the line for rest of season and then he is off elsewhere. ducati need to change really quick as there bike aint a patch on the japanese. if you cant beat them then join them! and poach some japanese designers.

why do people say they won't change? they have changed every damn part of the bike for rossi. I mean you can say they don't know the right change to make, they being everyone involved from rossi to his team to the guys at that factory. then yes, but to say they won't change when rossi has a new spec bike as fast as they can get it to him. Is just silly.

no one involved with this has a clue how to fix it... damn sure not rossi. All he knows is it doesn't turn in like he wants it too.

Bobby.m you are so right.
Testing in a race is not the way to go, but in Ducatis' case it has to be done.
Whatever the truth is, in the 2nd half of the race Rossi was much quicker than Nicky. Were they on the same tyres, anyone know?
Rossi was obviously trying and was enjoying himself, it showed in his manner afterwards. We all know that a happy Rossi is a fast Rossi. However, new parts are due and testing still to be done, let's hope for dry testing.
