The top guys all set their fastest laps between 10 and 15 laps into the race, so I assume that was the optimum period of tyres, track conditions etc. Jorge put his in on lap 11. Rossi's best lap was on lap 24. At 7 tenths behind Lorenzo it must show promise surely, no matter how much you hate him.
Nicky bucked the trend, his fastest lap was his 5th, 1 second slower than Jorge.
Yes,I know others were quicker than Lorenzo, I'm using him for comparison because he kept Casey honest all race long with only the 4th fastest lap.
This weekend will clarify things I suppose.

re: "@ shamarone and of those 28 championships how many were moto gp? ............ that's right, only 1"

since the business model is going extinct, i really wouldn't make much ado about motogp if i were you. honestly, i never rated borgo panigale to get any...!? :-o whaddya think of that...?

1's also pretty good when you're a "david" factory triumphing over the "goliath" resources of the japanese. bagging a grandprix title in only their 5th attempt to place on the shelf alongside all the other trophies (note, taken in the vastly more relevant and durable franchise of worldsupers) had to sting the far east just a lil'.

even worse, ducati had the nerve (arrgh, those jerks) to wrap up that "solitary" '07 title in honda's backyard...!!! ie. motegi. :) for those in the know, history records 1 is all they ever needed.

Old codger : The point is this , if the leading guys are setting there best laps at the 10/11 mark , and Rossi at 24 means that the leaders make a breakaway and Rossi has to fight , and use that term loosely through the field where is the promise with that.

If Nicky has changed his riding style to fit the Duc he has a lot of work to do. Very lackluster at best for the past few seasons. I don't feel the need to praise him for sub par riding since arriving at Ducati. Casey explained it best that he changed his riding style for different corners. If Vale is being hated then so should Nicky in my opinion.

On any bike and on any track I still think Vale is faster than Nicky. He should have stayed with Yamaha and dealt with being equals with Jorge. Yamaha definitely would have used his input in regards to upgrades. He would have been somwhere in the top 4 at every race at least and winning some too.

re: "Sham : you could do better Aluminal oh please"

okay, i'll elaborate. it's the frame material they have ZERO experience working with AND the "moving goal post" of bridgestone tyres. if they were ever going to "beat them by joining them" they needed to have opened their membership to "club alcoa" 20 YEARS AGO...! better...? :)

Fifth to First sounds so much better without bothering to go out in the warmup ,good luck to his rivals when he has no arm pump or chatter problems and on tracks more to his liking
