I'm not a huge Spies fan, but no-one with any sense would say he hasn't earned a place in MotoGP. But, Jarvis wasn't impressed with him last year and gave him an ultimatum which Ben is failing to achieve this year. With so many rider's contracts expiring at the end of this season, Team Bosses will be wanting to get next years riders contracted as soon as poss, so early season results will play a big part in their choices and decisions. Which means Ben is on his way out of the Yam Works team. However, there will be other teams keen to sign Ben, but maybe not Factory teams, and maybe not prototype bikes.

Spies was sure the era of 1000cc bikes would finally give him an advantage over his 135lbs competitors like Lorenzo, Stoner and Pedrosa. After all his greatest successes has been on 1000cc Superbikes. He races to win. Otherwise he would rather be out riding his bicycle. It's been frustrating for him to see his gap to the Aliens actually widen this year with the 1000s in the pre season. This has happened to Spies before. In AMA Supersport he just gave up after he realized he could not win and his mother blamed everyone and pissed everyone off.

Spies is a world class talent. But I'm afraid he is at the start of a downward spiral. He's a high cost, high maintenance rider. His mother is his manager and runs his life. You can bet she is now blaming everyone and pissing off Yamaha and his crew. No wife, no girlfriend, no real manager and few friends to bring some balance in his life. Yamaha will not give Ben another chance unless he turns it around soon. He knows that. He can deal with pre

I'm a bit disapointed in Ben but he'll be back. I don't think it's him or the bike but there is obviously something wrong on his side of the garage. It's commendable that he has been loyal to those that got him here but changes seem necessary.

As for Lin Js comments last year, he's British with an obvious agenda.

Ben is just not good enough I know he just beat Haga in WSBK in a year of very few top riders but what else has he done on the world stage.
He won AMA but whats AMA? I bet every rider on the MotoGP grid could win the AMA Championship.
Ben has been found out he is not as good as some people on here think he is

I've been in this exact situation riding as hard as you can and suddenly getting no where and worse still not knowing why. Solution, try a different crew chief theres something getting lost in translation.

I'm a Spies fan, and I'm feeling for him. Maybe a woman broke his heart. We know that can bring any guy down. And I would love to see Spies try out that Ducati.

Surely you jest! The AMA has produced some of the most legendary grand prix motorcycle racers in the history of the sport. Over the last 35 years I would say they have represented themselves quite well and without a doubt will produce a worthy champion in the years yet to come. Clearly you know nothing about the AMA. Also Josh Hayes, a current AMA champion, beat the socks off of how many European riders, in the rain no less, at Valencia last year the first time that he ever rode a GP bike? Enough said...
