MotoGP » Valentino Rossi: I managed to have some fun

"I was able to approach the race knowing what to expect from the bike, and I therefore managed to push harder and get a little closer to the limit" - Valentino Rossi.

Ha i am sure all the Honda techs walk around the garage referring to honda's 'Deltabox' frame....

Engine as a sressed member. Dead technology???. Are you taking the piss. Seemed to work pretty well for the F1 guys... Done ok in WSBK It won them one MotoGP title.

I am happy for evolution and natural selection to occur naturally, not as a last gasp effort of an ex champ who has 100million euro in the bank and has lost his bottle. Not that I blame the bloke, i would have gone and lived on my yacht with a bunch of hotties two years ago if I was in his position.

@ King

It won ONE WC in 9 seasons, and the stressed-member bike in WSTK is only a few races old (although it is admittedly doing well, that is irrelevant where GP is concerned).

Totaly agree to King. Ducati should stick to the iconic design which is engine as part of the frame. The Panigale looks great and is doing fine, same goes for the 1998 etc. Stoner said that the issue was not the CF, and he should know as he was the one which was able to ride a Ducati. As a Ducatista it is awful to see the direction Ducati is going. I love Ducati for being different, we have enough of these Japanese machines. As a punishment I would put Rossi on the amazing Britten!! Carbon fiber all over. What a piece of art and damn fast bike.

Race 1, 20+ seconds off the leaders and he was chucking his toys out of the pram and spraying bile at Ducati.

Race 3, 20+ seconds off the leaders and now he's having "fun"??

Looks like Rossi is putting his award winning charm and personality into overdrive to rally support from his fan base for whatever brand he switches too next year. Don't worry I'm sure it'll be the first official practice of 2013 when the Rossi fans will be digging out the "Cue the Jaws Music" and "He's Back" lines.

Great to see Rossi having fun again. I'm sure Ducati are over the moon. They must be delighted handing over $20 million a year, bowing to every ludicrous whim with multiple chasis designs and electronics so Rossi can trundle in 30 secs off the pace and languishing around 7th to 13th.
Happy days for everyone.

It's a class for prototypes so it means trying new things and if it doesn't work then give it flying lessons. There is no shame in discarding the CF frame, or stressed member engine, or anything else that doesn't work. If it means they all end up like a Honda or Yamaha then that is what is needed. Do you not think that if Ducatis' ideas worked then the Japanese would copy them?
