MotoGP » Ducati: Full upgrade package for Laguna Seca

"We will not have the total package at Mugello. This is unfortunate, because Valentino likes the race a lot and it is our home track" - Filippo Preziosi.

Hayden could (and did) run consistently in the top 5 from 2005-2006 until the 800s came into play. I do agree, the engine limit rule has to go away. They SHOULD figure out a way to entice teams like Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW and Aprilia back into GP and provide more competition and more seats for riders. The way Dorna is running MotoGP -- well, it's going to end up losing all of it's fans to WSBK.

its no easy feat for dorna to get motogp filling up with more factories , there is not enough money for other factories to come back and its too expensive , even though suzuki has said it will be back in 2014 i'm not sure they will do it.
unless they can get hold of one of the 3 top riders there is zero chance of winning a race or practically even a podium let alone a championship .
at least when vale was winning all the time there was still 2nd and 3rd up for anyone of the others , now there is 3 that own the podium places full stop because they are way too good.
its not there fault , its just that 3 great champions are around at the same time rather than just 1.
it kind of makes things a little difficult for dorna , other teams/factories and any spectators that don't back one of the 3.

MD Zane. A bit of a merry go round. Give Rossi this and that and top speed won't be an issue.
Top speed was his big gripe back in 2007 while he enjoyed corner entry, corner speed and stable exit.
Why bother anyway ? Give him cake and cookies,he's had his run at the top. Give him Stoner's chattery HRC bike and give Stoner, Petruci's IODA CRT bike and Stoner will not be lapped by Rossi.
More likely,Rossi will demand HRC give him a bike that suits his style. No wonder Nakamoto ruled the possibility out. He's got 2 superior pilots at half price.

BrianC,The GPC and Dorna in particular lost the plot when they elected to go to 1000cc. Kawasaki and Suzuki pulled out because the rules were in a constant state of flux and uncertainty, thus causing spiralling costs. Aprilia and BMW elected to remain in the shadows for the same reason.
So here we have it as many of us predicted. 1000CC is just the same as 800cc, but hugely more costly.
Having to accommodate CRT and blah.
The good news is that history generally repeats itself and MotoGP will still be around long after Stoner and Rossi have called it a day.

@ Collie

Actually, the new frame has cured much of the front end issues (and it has allowed for more adjustability, and a wider set-up range), so there has been progress made.

@ Rob

Who says that Rossi isn't welcome back? Masao Furasawa stated long ago that if "Rossi had problems at Ducati, to give him a call", and Rossi replied, "Ifa I hava problema at Ducatee, I will definitely calla you!" :)

@ Md Zane

Good point about the mid/exit corner speed. I think if the Ducati had the corner speed, the game would change.

@ Southerner

Nakamoto ruled Rossi out of the HRC team for good reason. What would have have to gain? He has a WC leading the pack and a solid second rider who is almost always on the podium. It would be a wash with Rossi on board. He would either be leading the pack or always on the podium.

@ yamduc

If Stoner is silly enough to transition back to Ducati after all that he has been through (which I highly doubt, but stranger things have happened), he will have relegated himself to no more WC's.

Do you really believe that.Ducati are building a new engine with new casings to fit the frame that rossi and burgess designed,by then it will be a complete jap replica, according to filipo he is doing everything they both asked for,and has now run over budget.Everything that was DEMANDED to be done will be ready at leguna seca.AND boy oh boy it better work, because rossi and burgess will have a lot to answer for if it dosent. Most of the posters on this site are using filipo as the baddie, when the blame must lie with the people who are giving him direction, and guess who that is,but nah most of you dont see it that way because yous are blind, and do not read what filipo says.Hayden put it in the front row at jerez.Imagine what casey would of done,
