As someone posted ironically on Rossi's link that he'll gonna stay till 46, in Casey's case it will gonna match : 27. No irony this time, sadly !
Or is it ? :?

Because everyone is out of contract this year which means the teams will want sort out there riders for next year. He's simply removing himself from the pending silly season. No point teams considering him when he's not sticking around which is bummer!

nothing weird about it at all , it gives all the other riders and teams an extra opportunity before signing contracts.
to do it at the end of season would make it hard for honda to find a decent replacement and other riders the chance to make the right decision before signing there own.
if anything he has been a true gentleman with whoever wants his seat.

Motogp has changed for the worse??? ofcourse it has. So who's behind recession?? Dorna?? Casey...ppl dnt have they used to have when u were young and dreamin abt the championship. Thanks to CRTs ppl like Randy can ride, if not he wud be in SBK and another innocent rider in SBK wud be out of job. As far as critisism a man...few years later when u r competing in Australian fishing championship u'll get critisism there aswell. so toughen up. Good luck...

Awesome rider. One of the most talented ever. Very Sad to see him go.

But can't help but smile when I read him say "everyone is bringing the championship down by criticising it" and then just a few moments later he launches into a pretty big critism of it himself!

“This championship this year is separated. The first of the CRTs comes into parc ferme after, I think, the race and qualifying. It's clearly separating them. This isn't a two standard series. This is a MotoGP championship. This is a prototype championship.

“People can say all they want about the past, that it started out as standard machines and progressed to prototype machines. Now we're just taking the opposite step and going backwards. It's not starting again from the beginning, it's going backwards.

“For me it's not the championship I fell in love with. It's not the championship I've always wanted to race in."

@bitterbierce no apologies needed, no worries. I am just as gutted, the series still needs him to be much of a series. Rossi, Lorenzo, Pedrosa n the lot, they still need him. But he has decided to follow his principles, we have to respect him for that, he is a good lad.

As dacron pointed out, he has been a gentleman to leave with notice so a replacement can be sought. and the rest can now start to impress to get his seat.

If I may add, he continues to be a gentleman to tell the news in person on live tv for us all to see. He could have been politically correct by releasing a press statement saying everything in detail. But edited statements are not his style i guess... Not forgetting the field day editors may have in glamorising things.
