MotoGP » Casey Stoner: Why I'm leaving MotoGP

“This isn't a two standard series. This is a MotoGP championship. This is a prototype championship” – Casey Stoner.

@1motion
I gather you did not see the video of his interview I would say his Parents and all his family are 100% behind him,and if I were his parents and went through the struggles they did for him to live his dream I would say the very same thing, and I hope he retires back home to his farm here in Aus and I for one Aussie will say well done Casey and thanks for doing your people and your country proud.

dorna are massively p*ssed with casey.

his retirement is hardly even mentioned on their homepage.

out of order, that.

still casey has nothing to loose now so can unleash both barrels on dorna for rest of the year.

I can't feel sorry for him for even a minute. Lewis Hamilton gets treated like sh t every single day of his life, nothing he does is right, nothing. If casey wants to know what real pressure is all about talk to lewis, the press, hatefull fans, and even his own team love to take a shot at this guy every chance they have.

Casey you don't even got a clue.

Read all about it, Read all about it,

Much maligned and tortured genius claims to be mis-understood and treated badly.

Ive always thought he was a girl and now he has proven it.

Stoner needs a challenge, not just from other riders but from the bikes themselves. I posted this about 4 months ago-
"The number of world championships, race wins, poles or money means nothing to Stoner, he will leave the sport when
A - Lorenzo or Pedrosa get hurt or leave and there are no other 'aliens' to race against
B - If the bikes are 'dumbed down' to the point where they are comparatively easy to ride compared to the full prototypes."
There also could be more going on than we know, Stoner is on the 'front line' in MotoGP and maybe Honda have told him what their plans are for the next year or two and they're not very appetizing (perhaps for example, with a looming 15,000 rpm rev limit they are considering using a much cheaper modified Fireblade engine)
Whatever the reason, It is obvious from this announcement that the era of "knife edge" open class pure race bikes is about to end and the era of cheap-and-easy-to-ride-at-the-limit MotoGP bikes is about to begin...depressing

Stoner is the best thing I have seen on a MotoGP bike, period. I have never enjoyed more a guy winning seemingly so easy, but you could always see that he put 110% effort on the bike. Beating the bike into submission to make it turn, stop chattering or what ever setup issues it have.
Stoner, you gave us so many great moments, almost every corner is full packed action with you sliding the bike around it. MotoGP will not be the same without you, certainly not for Jorge and Dani. I admire your decision! Enjoy!
