MotoGP » Casey Stoner: Why I'm leaving MotoGP

“This isn't a two standard series. This is a MotoGP championship. This is a prototype championship” – Casey Stoner.

Stoner has never had any way of coming across to fans or the media with a coherent train of thought or anything that was interesting. It's that side of racing at the top level that he doesn't like. Lots of us had the impression that he's pussy-whipped at home, but on the other side there's alot of people who have to earn a living away from their family and would rather have the resources Casey has to be able to make that call.
The series has big problems as a spectacle for sure. The pressure is sky high now for everyone else to win the championship this year, as otherwise his departure will taint and devalue subsequent years. Maybe a master stroke, where he might be considered champion without even racing, certainly a bitter parting shot (as usual with Casey), but he's never come across well and that'll never change it seems. He's took a dump on the doorstep as he's leaving, for sure.

There aren't going to be more factory bikes on the grid. Period.
So yes, something needs to be done. CRT is probably the lamest option but it is a way of forcing the big factories to undertake something.
What will be the next move? Here's a guess: Honda pul ING out of MotoGP.

A great rider that will be sadly missed by MotoGP, maybe in the past a lot of people should have kept their mouths shut. The bloke only ever gave his best Rossi on the Ducati has proved that, now the sport will miss one of it's top riders.Good luck for the future Casey you are the GREATEST rider of this era.

If you look at the lap records most of them where set in 2008. The same year the Economy collapsed. Engine restrictions, Advanced electronics removed and budget cuts have had a negative effect in Moto Gp and Casey can't stand it anymore. Best of luck to him.

1motion, do you have any idea what Casey went through to race? He was living in a caravan our the front of Pugh's house for a couple of years!!! He left his friends behind in Australia at the age of 14! His parents support his decision to retire!! As he said, there are many factors that affect his enjoyment and passion for the sport. At the moment the bad outweighs the good. So he is doing exactly what he has always said he would do. Retire when it is no longer fun. The writing was on the wall for MotoP when, for the first time in over 50 years of following the sport, I saw a crowd boo a race winner simply for not being thier favorite rider. That reduced the sport to the level of Soccer. Stoner, along with us long time fans of the sport, is openly lamenting the lack of respect all riders now suffer. Why risk your life to provide entertainment for the abusive element that has crept into the sport like a cancer.
