Sad that he is going, the same as any top flight rider hanging up his leathers, nuf said!
I think the problem for the other riders now is this announcement has lifted a couple of years of pressure off of Stoner and he is gonna fly, as they say, a happy rider is worth a second a lap! Stoner has actually made the 2012 season defo worth watching because the others are going to have to push to another level to even stay with him!

Stoner needs to focus. If he does intend to retire at the end of the season I hope he rides within his limits, we've had enough guys retiring with crippling injuries.
Now that he has anounced it so early in the year the Championship race is potentially devalued, if Dani or Jorge win they are going to wonder how hard Casey wanted it.
I'll be happy with what is left though. The Crutchlow/Dovi battle, will Ben get on podiums, will the Ducati mob get their bike up there, The Spanish battle at the front, Hector/Works Ducati struggle....etc.etc.

Him as a fast rider will be missed from the paddock but his moaning won't, has never seemed a happy person in front of camera for interviews, etc which are all part and parcel of his job. Hope he enjoys his retirement and watching his daughter grow up cause they do so fast.

Crash, where is my post? am i not allowed to have an opinion? whether you like what i say or not surely my opinion is my opinion and should be debated. Or do i have to follow the flock?. There are other riders in MotoGP not just Stoner.

are only juveniles and Australians commenting on this thread? Rossi's achievements, racing style and longevity far out weigh Stoner's, get some perspective, people. Grow up, even.

@nedted you are just so right but you forgot something one will be retiring at the top of his game most likely world champion while the other continues to trundle round mid pack and his supporters dream of times long gone past
