Anyone else think retirement announcement could also be a ploy?? Afterall it was only a month ago Casey's dad was trying to get another contract agreement with Honda? Maybe the pay was not enough so decided to call it quits? Hmmm... back to Ducati one year contract 20million+ euro's, be awesome to see if Casey really does have the talent but of course most of us already know the answer to that! Be great to see Casey in Aussie Supercars who knows Casey could be another John Surtees and give F1 a go. Casey's even young enough to be back after 10 years just like Mike Hailwood?? Whatever happens hope so much Casey retires injury free with or without another championship and of course gracefully.

Casey's quitng before marquez shows up, he is afraid this boy is going to wipe the noses of factory riders in his first year. What else could it be... how can you not enjoy winning????

Marquez. is nothing! unproven to this point!

He will be lucky to score 5-6 in his 1st year on hidden factory bikes.

@Rolling Stoner
Well mate, if such would be the case for the world champ- scared by Marquez, the more might be like that for all the front runners, don't you think? Yet they've made no retire announcements .

@ GJN

Stoner is being paid about the same as Pedrosa and Lorenzo (approx 5 million euro). Rossi is being paid approx(till the end of this year) 15 million euro.

Stoner is not interested in money, it's never been a driving force for him. About 3 years ago the Sydney Morning Herald published the top 10 highest paid Australian sportsmen (headed by Mat Maladin) and Stoner wasn't even on the list.

The reason he's leaving is the bikes.

He only wants to race race-bikes. He's never raced a production or production based bike and has absolutely no interest in them.

whats he still racing for, he doesnt like it anymore.
leaving becuse he has hurt feelings and doesnt like all the changes in motogp,
dont see anyone else complaining like you Casey,
good luck in v8 super cars, you are going to need it, going to be interesting to see what you have to say when you get tagged and spun off. "they are driving to agressive"

maybe if you had abit more personality fan would of liked you more, im not saying you needed the karisma of Rossi or Sic or JLo but let people like you, i also heard on the radio this morning you refuse to sign autographs,, if this is true i dont no.

@ monster.
stoner made 10 mill last year .
but even 10 mill is a rip off for this guy , he has been the bargain rider for his whole career , so money probably means very little to him .
i have a hunch through the year he may just start enjoying the racing again , and honda i'm sure will not go without trying at least one more time to change his mind , perhaps if money won't work , mabe an island or two! , spectacular fishing spots all around!!
if anything , he is 100% certain he is going home......just like he was about motegi.
