I think Mick is right Casey will be under the pump from every man and his brown dog not to retire at the end of the year.

The only people who want CS to retire are the die hard Rossi fans that cant see the wood for the trees

I don't know what other inducements HRC could offer though? They've already conceded to his request for a 1-year contract rather than 2, they've cut down on testing duties for him and axed all PR commitments other than the most basic (like pre-event press conferences). Obviously the money is already substantial. What else could they offer for him to change his mind?

Not saying it's out of the question because Casey has backtracked on statements before (the Japanese GP of last year comes to mind), but it seems a big ask to expect him to now overturn all those family considerations and keep doing something he plainly doesn't enjoy any more.

@craigtrumpy:
greed? the guy makes less money than Jorge or Rossi and seems fine by that.
It's not that he left a former employee of his because he could not take the wage raise of his team mate! Wait a second...

You don't announce to the world you are packing in if you are not really sure!! What kind of person would do this? If Casey decides to change his mind, then he is showing just exactly what he is in the sport for and it isn't for the love of it!!
MotoGP is suffering from lots of problems, but as the current world champion, you don't just "walk away" because you don't like what is happening, you do your best to try to improve it! Does Casey think all the other riders are happy with the situation? Probably not, but they are not jacking in, they are trying their best to keep the sport they love going!! Get off your backside Casey and make some effort to keep MotoGP alive, you are a world champion - act like one!!
