The sad thing is, he gets on the podium twice and Yamaha will be happy. This rain race was a washout for a lot of riders. It could easily have been a mechanical DNF or like Puinet he doesn't even make it off the starting-line.

Spies will be fine if he can tie together a couple of podiums by the end of the season...maybe 3 podiums. If not...his comments about Dovisioso being good for fourths will come back to haunt him.

Perception becomes reality--it's a fact--and only wins can change it at this point. Just beating Dovi and Cal probably won't be enough.

BTW, I'm from the USA so and Ben's 2012 performance thus far has left us all pretty perplexed and frustration is starting to kick in. We're not silent.

You make it sound as if Crutchlow was the only one who crashed out, Dovi did too a couple laps later.

The truth is that Cal has been handing Benny his behind so far this season on a satellite bike. Can't wait for smug BS to eat his words on the 4th place Dovi comment later this year while he battles with CRTs.

What would all the BS fans would say if Crutchlow/Stoner/Lorenzo/Pedrosa/Rossi whined about a helmet issue being the cause for this kind of performance??

Y'all armchair racers are all too strong and tough up there on your altars of wisdom! Well, not all of you, but many of you have a too harsh judgement of Ben's capacities!

I never rated Spies as high as the other aliens and IMO he was not as good as Dovi or Simmo but, come-on!!, he is much better than he is showing right now. Or at least, was much better than this... He might never recover but that doesn't take away his victory or past showings! If there are factors that he can overcome he is still young enough to have a good career and, perhaps, a couple of victories more!

The Spies fans knocking Cals performance how low can you go? They now call your rider "Backmarker Ben" due to his performace this year.

Look an the bright side it can only get better he cant go much further back or he would be laping with the Moto2 bikes.

Yep he is the preditor always behind the rest of the field

Well i seem to remember a certain Mr Toesland been absolutely crucified on this site and quite possibly by the some of the poeple who are trying to make excuses for Spies. It all goes to prove one thing and that is we all need to be a bit less eager to start slating people when they have problems. Ben is in a no win position now with some people because any problem he gets is going to be looked as another failure. We should all be careful of our own words coming back to bite us.

Ben wake up and smell the roses, yes you have talent as was clearly displayed while you were at tech 3. For whatever reason Factory Team Yamaha does not want you to succeed. Ben go back to Wsbk or the AMA. Its obvious you're being set up for failure and Yamaha wants to promote Cruthlow or Dovioso in your place.
