MotoGP » Lorenzo and Pedrosa: From enemies to... marriage?!

“Maybe in two or three years we can get married!” Jorge Lorenzo.

the reason most of the guys are friends these days is because they dont "race" against each other anymore.
the battles arnt as intense and no handlebar action...... the winner takes off no real racing!

wait until these guys bump in a race then we will see if its lovey-dovey anymore!

As much as everyone says they like seeing the respect everyone has towards each other, it really is the exact reason there is no excitement this year. Nobody fights for a win against their friend, they may press a little bit but there will never be a fantastic battle between two people who are friends.

Rivalries are what sports are about, nobody wants to see the top 3 qualifiers end up in the same 1 2 3 position the entire race because they like the guy in front of them.

And as for saying that since Sic passed we should have more of this is complete bullshit. Did any of you watch Marco race? He didn't make very many friends on the track but he was just about the only exciting rider in 2011.

Racers are supposed to race.

Your rivals are yours to destroy in competition, not to become buddies with. All this "golly gee, look how well they get on with eachother" bs is in the realm of those looking in from the outside. On the inside, you have one goal - to beat the living daylights out of each and every one of your rivals. The only rivals I ever bothered being friendly with were those I knew we had covered. There's a couple of adages that, in my experience, always hold true in motorsport, "Beware when your enemies are friendly." and, "If people aren't hating you, you're not going fast enough." Winning is a tough business. Only losers are worried about what their rivals think of them.

"No, he's not a championship favorite with Stoner on the same bike, but with Stoner gone things change a bit.."

I don't see how things change when Stoner wasn't there for 5 years and it made no difference.. I think Dani has been un-lucky but I feel he might just be the greatest Messiah contracted to never win.. Until Jorge retires too maybe?

Lorenzo has become my favorite (after Stoner of course) because he gives it 100% and his riding style is so classic. He suits the Yamaha but I don't think he would need much time to adjust to a Honda. Stoner commented that the only real respect i nthe sport is between the riders themselves. It doesn't diminish their desire to win. It simply makes the 90% of the race weekend when you are not helmeted and on the bike a lot more pleasant.

Only losers are worried about what their rivals think of them...

Stoner is a winner seems to worry a great deal what others think of him...

Rossi: Best rider on the best bike
Stoner: Rossi is belittling my championship (the one I sent my dad to receive)

Pass me a bucket I'm going to be sick... They should have a level of respect for each other but don't start hugging each other its not Football or F1!!...and I agree with some of the comments about if they were bar banging and fairing rubbing it wouldn't be...yours or my Motorhome for dinner tonight??
