Obviously the optimal angel at that speed and drift of front tire slide of rear at this longitude in relation to the moons position (gravitational pull)and to make a close inspection of the red paint

More to do with his positioning on the bike than anything else. The slo mo's in FP2 showed Lorenzo just as far over but with his elbow tucked inside his knee.
Although few were trailing black lines through the corner like Stoner. It's this exaggerated style that makes him interesting in my opinion.

Your missing something Stoners lean angel is usually less than other riders his body is way of the bike he hooks his leg on the side of bike moving the center of gravity.... and pushing to stand the bike less lean I guess you would say he got the idea from street racers and control riders. it might have even been you! well the elbow anyway So as riders copy Stoners racing technique and they are they are actually copying you Wow

I just browsed all the moto2 and gp pictures and there are a lot of riders contacting their elbows on that turn. They are using elbow sliders too. Marquez and Luthi are the other two.

This is why two wheel racing is so much better to watch than any kind of four wheel motorsport. Take a picture of an F1 car in mid corner and it might as well be parked but even when frozen in a snapshot like this a bike still looks fast.

Get to a track, work on your body positioning, carry more corner speed, and practice. Getting your knee down is easy (although you shouldn't be entirely focused on that). :).....

Solid advice this, a track is the place for knee down fun and games. There's a great motorcycle safety add on youtube with Mick Doohan that has park benches, phone booths and buses parked in race track gravel traps (cgi of course) and the camera cuts away just before impact but you still see enough to make you flinch.

Stoner is making up for a lot of deficiencies in that bike, as Jorge is clearly able to see. If Honda does not get that bike sorted, Lorenzo will stay where he is, and (oh dearie me), Valentino will end up on another cast-off. And then spend two years telling Honda how to fix it. Ho ho ho.

stevejigsaw - oh do tell. When did YOU meet Stoner? Was it when you were booing him at Donington - with saliva running out of both sides of your mouth? Charmed, I am sure.
