"I think this is going to be one of the first races in quite a long time where tyres may be quite critical, especially towards the end of the race" - Casey Stoner.

"They may not lie but can distort the truth. After all it does not say Rossi was on special flown in tires, or had a lack of serious competition, etc to win those championship statistics does it. "

Oh for gawd's sake. Are the Rossi haters still spouting that old drivel? It's been proven to be nonesense, so try and move on like everyone else has, well almost everybody. 2 years behind the times pal, catch up!

"or had a lack of serious competition"

He beat Stoner, Pedrosa and Lorenzo in 2008 and 2009. He didn't have special tyres and "no competition?" I guess he was just lucky eh? (another Rossi hater chestnut!)

Let's go back to our plant pots eh Bill and go "Weeeeeeeeeeee"!

Rossi is definitely one of the all time greats. But what makes some think he is greatest of all time is his statistics. Most of those statistics were acquired when he had vastly superior tires, bike, and team riding against 2nd tier riders. Rossi's 2008, 2009 and 2005 championships are well deserved...actually all of his are, but I am just saying that things would have been much different if he had the level of competition that Dani, Jorge, and Stoner have had to deal with.

I, too, am tired of the antiquated nonsense. It almost seems like NOBODY actually watched GP back when Rossi was coming up, and regurgitate internet nonsense. Furthermore, you can't call into question Rossi's "competition" without doing the same thing to Agostini and the rest. It's just ridiculous!

... sure man, you're right.
and when does dany, stoner, jorge on the same level with rossi ?
Is it in your dream?
Since when rossi run alone on the front by him self.... most of the young GP rider does that, including dany, jorge, and stoner.

"So your denying he did not have tailor made Michelin
tires flown in then, when everybody and his dog knew it. "

At a few European rounds yes, but your forget ALL the top Michelin riders (including Gibernau et al) also did, but it sounds much better if it was just Rossi doesn't it, makes you hatred more justified? Get over it mate and move on...

@ bill

I'm not spot-picking particular issues and trying to negate earned championships and wins because of them. Sure! Rossi had bespoke tires, but it wasn't as if other riders couldn't have bespoke tires. If it wasn't breaking any rules, what's the big deal? The current spec tire rule blows anyway.

@ ben

Great point! People have agendas, and it's extremely biased.
