Overall Yamaha has proving to be the best bike but guys is not esay.. Honda had superior engine and the fact of that power is on midrange performance give then an advantage when the tyres worck well for Honda.. remember Valencia last year when Stoner beat Spies to the line ok was 800cc but never out Honda out of the fight.. Its all preety close but Yamaha like Rossi allways whanted its one hell of a suit bike with smooth power delivery that gives a lot of confidence and make the tyre wear less then the rivals.. For now the next evolution are made by the new Yamaha riders and tech 3 riders lets see if they keep the right way for Future for yamaha.. Ps: many people talck about Carl go to honda or Ducati but if you guys whant to wach Carl at is best better for him to keep with Yamaha

rumers are like wild fires around here. and life altering conclusions are made from a "test".
The Yamaha is not the best bike, certainly not the fastest. The only thing it does is keep the tires longer. Honda will dial that in soon. And Dovi proved nothing when going for a hot lap on a soft tire. That's not what the test is for and no one else was "racing". Now the simpletons read into this test and proclaim Dovi as the new champ. I have to hand it to Crash, they know how to keep the minions excited.
Status-quo at Silverstone.

Just goes about his business with machine like consistency. I'm not sure he'll ever be as fast as the top three, but the guy is solid. He must feel vindicated and is, no doubt, the current front runner for the factory seat next year (between himself, Crutchlow, and Spies).

To beat Stoner (works bike) Dovi must have had a big smile under that crash helmet.....who is betting me that he will take Spies ride next year.... Sorry Cal but not quite there yet.

I'm with you Hoppy. Too many people have one favorite rider and anybody that beats that rider gets disparaged for any number of reasons, but never that they just got beat. Dovizioso has been a top rider throughout his career so it's no surprise to see him do well. It is, however, a surprise to see someone take a satellite bike to the front with any regularity, motogp needs that desperately.

@ motomoto

Yep! Common fodder here on Crash.net.

@ Pam

We aren't really discussing a rider being beaten, are we? We are discussing a test. Read it again......A TEST! People here treat FP1, FP2, QP's and tests as "races".

Yeah, and that was ONLY because of Pedrosa missing races/injuries. It wasn't like Dovi out-performed him consistently. He beat Pedrosa by a mere 9 points, and Pedrosa missed 5 races to Dovi's 1 missed race. Furthermore, Pedrosa won 3 races (with four 2nd place finishes and two 3rd place finishes). Conversely, Dovi only came ahead of Pedrosa in 2 races at the end of the season. What Dovi did do was put himself in a position to capitalize off of the/any mistake(s) or missed races of/by an alien. I can't fault him for that.

Frankly I think Honda is still the fastest but not the best bike out there. With that said seeing the Tech 3 guys so close in pace to the Factory bikes is a clear indication that Yamaha contrary to Honda and even Ducati is offering a much closer to factory packages to its satelite teams. This was only a test and only the teams know where they are in terms of performance, looking at the times Dovi's lap was not far ahead of the race pace set by JL and DP.
