MotoGP » Tyre switch 'unfair and unsafe', Honda out of Aragon

“It's just an unfair situation for Honda. The reason they say for changing the tyre is safety, but at the moment it's not safety for us, we are riding on the limit every lap” – Dani Pedrosa.

Honda better get some HRC people to work on the frame and fork resonance balance stuff at the HQ fast.

But nice of course, because a supplier decised to supply only one option, you have to redesign your whole frame. Maybe when they are ready Dorna can add another couple of kg of ballast....

@ Sasha

I couldn't say it better... So a new tyre, and now the only option, will cause Honda to COMPLETELY update their bike. Yeah, and DORNA WONDER WHY MOTOGP IS TOO EXPENSIVE?!?!?! Hmmmmm... CRT won't fix THAT problem...

Bridgestone offered the new tyre to all the teams and on a vote it was decided that it was the preferred option, so it's not really anything to do with Dorna. It does seem odd not to make it available for testing though.

Even without the tyre issue, Yamaha's development program seems more aggressive this year. While Casey and Dani had no new parts at Catalunya, the M1 guys were running new engines. Even the Tech 3 boys got engine and electronic updates. Honda are definitely on the back foot with development this season.

What an utter farce...why change something that is not broken??!! the tyres before were completely fine!! So one of the top teams cannot get it to work and must require considerable revision to their bike in order to correct the problem. And Carmelo said he was trying to cut down the cost?? yeah right!!
Unbelievable, no wonder Casey wants to walk away from this silly championship.
Such a shame, we as paying fans deserve to watch close competition, not domination by certain riders.
This tyre change will give one team considerable advantage, while the others barely register...shakes head, unbelievable Dorna

completely agree with the points being written so far. So they added weights last year to bikes that have been pretty much developed, and then introduce new change of tires when the old ones were completely adequate!?!?
I just dont understand the thinking of some people at DOrna... and add in CRt too..otherwise known as mobile chicanes...what utter tits.
They are doing a good job of taking the spectacle of close racing away from us fans..
