MotoGP » Stoner talks big rear steps, front tyre woes

"We knew from when we first tested those tyres that it just wasn't going to work with our bike. We told Bridgestone, everybody from the beginning. But they didn't seem to care" - Casey Stoner.

Been reading most of the posts on this thread and, in my opinion, there is way too much hypocrisy going on here.

When VR has problems, he is a talent-less fraud. CS has problems and its rule changes, tyres, extra weight etc.

Some posts say give CS the tyres he wants, fix the chatter, fix the arm pump, reduce the weight and he will win. Well I say give VR the bike he wants and he will win!

Both views are as subjective as the other and mean nothing because the results are all that counts and guess what, neither rider are currently winning.

Please do not lower yourselves to quoting statistics base on the past 5 years alone because ultimately, VR has more wins and Championships.

@ Dave

Dave dave dave... VR has more wins and championships because:

- He has been there for about 8 years more than Casey.
- He was on top machinery from the start.
- The only consistent competition VR had through MOST of his championships was SG and MB. As soon as DP, JL and CS rocked up, you suddenly saw his dominance wane. So yes, the last five/six years ARE VERY RELEVANT!!!! As you can't compare years against CS when CS wasn't there!!!

And don't take things out of context. The issues Rossi is having is ongoing for a year and a half. And the fact remains that the bike was on the podium and very fast THE DAY BEFORE HE RODE IT!!! Since then it has been all down hill.

As for the weight and the tyres, again, Honda had a final design, THEN the weight changed, The old tyre works, the new one doesn't (FOR THEM) yet it is taken away as an option very suddenly! hmmm...... And Casey is still doing ok, just not dominating....

@Dave:

" Please do not lower yourselves to quoting statistics based on the past 5 years "

Dave good post, but what your asking is impossible, as that's what 90% of posters rely on in there arguments, a kind of safety net when there excuses are no longer convincing.

@ there there now

You disappoint! :D
It seems we see eye to eye when it comes to Sykes and Kawasaki, but not here. I don't feel it's fair to compare Stoner to Rossi to Stoner and NOT TAKE THE YEARS THAT STONER HAS BEEN THERE INTO ACCOUNT?!?! It makes no sense...

So basically, Rossi is WAY better than Casey, as long as Casey never came to MotoGP...? Or, "as long as we pretend Casey never rode in MotoGP, Rossi is the greatest ever?"

I WILL NEVER DENY THAT ROSSI WAS AND STILL IS A GREAT RIDER, BUT I FEEL CASEY IS BETTER. But that is all down to personal opinion!

@nick636,

there there now, this weight excuse CS fans keep using is an example of the lack of any basic logic to their argument. With the exception of DP, CS s the lightest rider by 3-4 kgs, so by your logic, that's the only reason CS has been winning anyway!!!!

Oh, so does that mean JLo is actually the better rider because hes is heavier than CS? and a much better rider because he is currently beating him as well?

Dave

You are in danger of exposing yourself... The weight was added to bike, not bike and rider. The issue comes from balance. (where to place the weight...) Wihich is what started the chatter issues. Yamaha seem to have dealt with it a bit better admittedly. But where do you find that Jlo is heavier than Stoner? Can you post where you found those stats? DP is tiny though I do admit..

ok...so we all should forget the last 5 years and remember only the years prior to prevent lowering ourselves to fodder.
the years casey rode in motogp must be forgotten and banished from memory as they never happened and are only fickle fragments of imagination of the low.
