Where do people get the idea that Marquez is some tiny waif? He is HEAVIER than Stoner and only 1kg less than Pol. Sure, Redding at 74kg is heavier than most of the Moto2 AND MotoGP field but still manages to do well.
If weight was that important, Pedrosa would have won many, many more races. It isn't and he hasn't..

MrFill,i have been saying the same thing for ages.People go on about Dani having a weight advantage, yet he hasnt won a single premier class title.Blows the theory out of the water, especially when you look at what Scott did today.Wonderful battle between him and Marc and a well earned 2nd place.Good effort from Pol too,but this was somewhat overshadowed by the battle for 2nd!
Great stuff.

Having been sat at the final corner today, that pass was truly amazing! Great race by Redding, but if Marquez had knocked him off at that final corner, I don't think Marquez would have been allowed to leave the circuit alive!

The difference is that in MotoGP, you have 240bhp at your right hand i.e. a total excess of torque and power, so weight is much less of an issue. In Moto 2, you have 125bhp, so weight makes much more of a difference. Argue however you want, but simple physics dictates that accelerating, braking and cornering an extra 20kg takes its toll - its not rocket science.

A non weight equalised class which uses underpowered single spec engines is just unfair. Its as simple as that. It says something that even F1 upped the minimum weight for 2012 by 20kg to 640kg, to avoid heavier drivers being penalised by the reintroduction of KERS.

Good performance from Bradley too. Credit where credit is due.

Pol has always been fast, now showing maturity (plus he clearly goes at this track, which is the fastest on calendar). go look at how many 2.10 and below he did in QP. I think 12 of 13 completed laps.

Interesting how they then dropped into 2.07s on race day, shows wind and temp affect Saturday

the only other guy near Pol's consistency in QP was Zarco, Brad and Scott, who was superb today, as was Brad.

The future, when you compare ages (21 / 22) is Espargaro, Marquez, Redding, Smith, Iannone and Zarco

Put them all in Motogp will be fun! Luthi is 26btw, hence why he isnt given as much credit (motogp ride wise) s he should, probably being labelled an old skool 2 stroker

Anyone else see Redding give Marquez a little pat on the bum post-race? Wonder if those two have made up... :o

Anyway, it was a brilliant race - honestly thought Bradders might get a podium at first!!

@Mrfill and Hoppy - where do we get the idea that marquez is some kind of waif? - from our eyes - the guy is tiny - look at him from a front on shot at the start, they are small bikes yet it is awkward for him to get a foot down.

I have read that he weighs less than Dani Pedrosa - you may have read different.

In a low power support class like Moto2 the small riders will have an advantage.

When he gets to MotoGP, despite his great talent, I suspect that he will be too small - Casey is the smallest premier class champ that we have had and an exception in many ways.
