If I remember rightly Dani was the only Honda rider still using Showa suspension a few years ago, and they weren't competitive enough.
I don't think he's going to go back to them after all the good data the honda teams have collected in the last few years

Everyone gushes when Casey puts an elbow down, but most of those shots are on banked turns and up against raised rumble strips. Alvaro was draging elbow on completely flat turns at Silverstone. The above pic just looks unreal. He really commits to his lines.
