Very difficult to criticise Bradley Smith until hes on a competitive bike. He has to ride harder than the others just to keep in the top 15 or so. Ok he hasnt won a race yet but neither has Redding who is, and has been, on better machinery. Arguably Smith has achieved more in Moto2 than Redding has. Time alone and a better bike will tell.

Being a regular top 6 finisher in moto2 means nothing for the motogp. In order to be competative there you should win minimum half of all races in moto 2. Like lorenzo, Rossi, stoner and pedrosa did. BS has nothing to look for in motogp, apart from a real frustrating year to come. If Yamaha is clever they should choose dovi and crutchlow as being close to podium fighters. BS will be the dead last prototype all year.

Beating your teammate is good for one thing, getting to say you beat your teammate, it still does not give an indication of your talent against the rest of the field.

I like Brad, I cheer for the kid (my wife asked when they allowed 12 year olds to race when she saw him on a podium interview). He takes the time to write the blog for his fans and there really is no reason not to like him.

I hope the best for him, regardless as to where he ends up.

I agree.

You hear a lot more from Sofouglu, De la Rosa and Cluzel riding good packages in WSS. If Smith didn't have a column in crash we wouldn't hear much from him. With the package he has in Moto2 he's lucky to do that decent.

@ motoallstars

Seriously? Terol? The 2011 125cc CHAMPION (and the same guy who came in 3rd in 2009 and 2nd in 2010)??? It's obvious that the Suter chassis isn't working for him, but he did very well on the Aprilia. Simon? The 2009 125cc CHAMPION (and the same guy who came in 2nd place in 2010)? It's obvious that the Suter isn't working well for him either. Both of them are prior world champions. Smith is not (but it appears that the Aprilia worked well for him too)!

Exactly! Beating your teammate has nothing to do with your ability relative to your other competition.

I see the numptys are out in force again, demonstrating why the lack of knowledge that has led them to lead a life of "arm chair expert" rather than running a MotoGP Team!
The Tech3 frame is not as capable as Kalex or Suter (look at the frame names in the results!) he is going to MotoGP next season as his contract is already signed, given to him by Herve, a chap who knows much much more than some of you lot...

how can a rider as mediocre as smith get a bike in gps before the likes of j rea can,hes just not at that level, cal and rea would use smith for grip in a race ,deplorable situation,if hes average or worse on a moto2 bike, how could he muster a 1000cc around, as he said he risked everything for a couple of laps just to get noticed,to make a headline, then faded back, hes just a headline junkie, not a good racer. a slick pr machine, all the gear and no idea

@ Numpty Spotter

He is not guaranteed a seat in MotoGP next year IF they decide not to move him to the premier class (regardless of what his loose "contract" states). This was mentioned during Silverstone. Keep up!
