'Heard the rookie rule is being changed back again... Sometimes I guess we need a diff passport?' - Ben Spies to Colin Edwards on Twitter

Another rule change for next year is that the riders will have run one lap round the track flapping their arms and make chicken noises.
I used to used to get out of bed in the middle of the night and sometimes do 10 hour flights to watch the races but not anymore. The sports administrators have done a terrible job.
Funnily enough I love WSBK but always used to think it was inferior. This year I am really into it.
Does anyone else feel like this.

To be fair, the rookie rule does new riders a bit of a favour. When Ben entered the championship, there was no absolute expectancy because while he was seen as star coming from WSBK, he was not expected to win MGP while on a satellite bike. Had he gone straight to a factory seat and not been winning straight away then he would have come under fire. The same now goes for Marquez - put him on the Repsol and the weight of expectation will be huge and if he doesn't win, he'll be panned by everybody.

Excellent decision by Dorna. The series is losing Stoner and Rossi is struggling at Ducati so do what you gotta do to get the likes of Marquez, Pol, Luthie and Iaonone up as quick as you can. It has been well documented that the satellite teams had no place for Marquez so why block him when there is an obvious fit at Repsol. Spies didn't mind Yamaha USA doing a deal with Tech3 to put him on a good bike with a good salary so it's pretty lame to hear him complaining now. And Edwards should hang up his boots - he is not even competitive in CRT and has been living off his passport for longer than anyone.

I think the rule change has its good and bad points, imagine if Bautista got a 1 year contract with Repsol Honda and finished top 3 then had to vacate his seat for Marquez who may of only finished 6th, so probably best just to give Marquez a 1 year contract and if he does not perform well then the following year riders who are performing well get a shot at a factory ride, so maybe let the rule be dropped but new riders can ONLY sign a 1 year contract.

And who said Honda doesn't have clout, when it comes to putting pressure on the governing body to change rules. Watching a interview on 1 HD the other day and it seems the factories all of them want a change to CRT by 2015. The governing body has been pushed towards this option, not the other way around.

" Ben, Your thoughts would mean something if you were winning races, or podiums...?"

Why does he have to be winning to have an opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own thoughts - even braindead ones like this one...

@ Mrfill

What factory team would sign Smith? Even Redding at present (Who I think is much better than Smith) At present it looks like Smith won't even get the satellite spot he was hoping for.

As for Marcquez, MASSIVELY quick, but what will the reaction be when he starts ploughing into seasoned riders on his factory bike in his rookie year. He is careless. I would much rather see Iannone move up!!!

It seems a bit suspicious that the rookie rule is abolished just when Marc Marquez is heading for Casey Stoner's Honda ride!! I'm sick of hearing about Marquez and how he is expected to hit the ground running and actually think Scott Redding is just as good if not better than he is! There seems to be a bit of a "clique" emerging in MotoGP which will definately continue to ruin what is already a dwindling sport and there is obviously loads going on that us lot never hear about. Casey Stoner's decision to just walk away is not the answer though as I for one think he could have made more impact by staying and doing his utmost to sort this whole farce out!!
