@ DC I agree and have said also that Ben Spies set the bar so high with his WSBK performance that anything less than a brilliant consistent front-running MotoGP performance would appear to be a failure to deliver. As we Brits would say 'he's made a rod for his own back'. He got the plum Yam Factory ride and while he's been decent, he hasn't shone like people expected him to - but then fans rarely appreciate how tough it is (as you say). The rotten start to the season has made it worse. I don't think that BS is definitely out on his ear, and if the door is still open then he can save himself. But I think it'll take consistent podiums (not wins, cos even Lin Jarvis would concede that beating Lorenzo to take wins is a V big ask I think).
