MotoGP » 'Tired' Pedrosa feels wrong strategy cost him dear

'Casey stayed behind me all the time and by the second half of the race, I believe he took profit of extra energy he saved during the first part of the race to overtake me' - Dani Pedrosa

It's official: there are only 2 riders with the alien status - and Dani isn't one of them. Next year, it will be the repeat of the Doohan years with Lorenzo in the role...

Don not expect Rossi on a Yamaha to be back to his old self, nor should anyone expect Marquez to be at the level of his other senior countrymen...

For me he's only had a bike capable of winning the title in 2 of the last 6 years. His rookie year and last year when he got injured. When you look at this year though he should have been winning races before the tyre change and he hasn't delivered. After today I'm actually wondering if he'll win a race this year - something I'm surprised to be thinking - and if he doesn't win at sachsenring (where he's sh*t hot) that may become a possibility.

I was really hoping Lorenzo went to Honda as I think a Yamaha ride would have been Pedrosas best chance of a title with the high corner speed bike suiting his style. With Lorenzo re-signing though that chance is gone - probably forever.

I see him wiping the floor with Marquez next year but still not keeping his ride for 2014 - Honda not wanting 2 Spaniards in there team for more than 1 season. (They have a history of not switching both riders at once.) At risk of looking too far into the future I see him on a tech 3 or factory suzuki in 2014.

Have to disagree with you there. In '06, he had a bike capable of winning the title, his team mate won it though. In '07 the bike was built for HIM. It didn't even fit Hayden. Admittedly, it was kind of a pig of a bike even if it was so small he was the only one able to fit on it. He's been on the factory team every year yet still doesn't manage to put it together enough to win a championship.

Then last year, Stoner comes in and wins straight away on the bike Dani built. If Dani wasn't playing the role of good team mate today, then Casey simply made a fool of him. I don't believe that to be the case. Truly. Dani has a reasonably good record of winning a race or three every year. That could be enough to win a title, but not with Stoner and Lorenzo around. Given a Rossi comeback to the ranks of the Aliens, he won't do it then either...

Dani,

Pickup your game. Stoner rode & beat you easily with a badly banged up body. He limped off the bike & was barely able to limp up the podium.... And here you reckon tiredness cost you.

Of course he is tired.

Both repsol boys are working their asses to solve that chatter issue, which incidentally is making the bke too tiring to ride.. (they so good that they are still in front with that problematic bike)

Seeing pedrosa stoner and dovi at the press conference after the race, you could see by their faces that all of them had a physically hard race, and to me stoner looked the worst for wear, followed by dovi, with pedrosa looking the better of the three.Just my opinion.cheers

It's got nothing to do with 'tired' or 'strategy'. Truth is Dani is not and never has been an alien. If it wasn't for the Repsol sponsorship causing Honda to build him a made to measure bike he'd be nowhere. Yet, even with that bike, he's routinely beaten by his teammates and/or opposition.

Surely, he can ride, better than you and me, but he can't race. He's simply not in the league of Stoner, Lorenzo or Rossi. And he doesn't have the work ethic of Crutchlow or Hayden. All he's got is a power to weight advantage. Getting him off the mark and out of corners faster, but watch the way he holds them all up into and thru the corners. And likewise his rapid progression backwards once they do, and they do, get past him.

"Tired"? These guys are at their physical peak and their fitness traiing is second to none as they are professional athletes.
It's either team orders or as someone astutely pointed out, a play of words for tyre problems.

pedrosa always fadeout after half distance of the race, if race are short maybe he is haerd to beat and maybe, have won some championship, as for the record he always pulls away on the first part of the race
