“I think it is an excessive penalty for a racing incident and whilst I accept it I do so reluctantly” – Alvaro Bautista.

It was a racing incident !!

Every rider at some point has lost it in the heat of the moment and taken someone out. It is a normal part of racing.
I myself think the penalty is unfair, inconsistant and dare I say it, politicaly motivated, due to the fact that Jorge was leading the Title by a good margin and he is Spanish.

This is one of the many reasons that Stoner is leaving MotoGP.

I am a long time MotoGP fanatic but this championship is an illusion and many ways. People will say that it's now a two championship race, a prototype and a CRT, but it's wrong. It's a 3 championship race, that's factory prototype, satellite prototype and CRT. No satellite has won a race since Tony Elias, and that in 2006. that is 6 years of racing that only a factory bike has a chance of winning. The current state of MotoGP devalues the Rider Championship as well, since you are only fighting against 6 man on a factory bike instead of 20+ riders. how pathetic MotoGP has become. And if any MotoGP Rider moves to WSBK, they are moving to a much more prestigious championship where all riders has a chance of winning, if not championship.

I have helluva high regard for Jorge but his technique of crossing the track Schumacher style so that he can ride around the other riders taking advantage of Yamaha's high corner speed superiority will always leave him exposed to being T boned or riders running wide. In many ways he was lucky that it has not happened before the Bautista incident.

deja - vu, anyone? Stoner/Rossi - Jerez, Pedrosa/Hayden - Estoril.
can anybody tel how many times similar accidents like what happened to Bautista in the last few years?
the penalty is just because the tight championship points between the two riders Stoner/Lorenzo.
if only the two were not the championship contenders i doubt there would be any penalties.

I hated watching immature bull$hit last yr
w Simoncelli. Ur at the big dance, theres
an expectation of expertise n professionalism
at the top. Take ur rookie bull$hit and leave
now! I can still see Lorenzo n Simo after a
race last yr where Lorenzo's begging "please
stop ur bull$hit, ur gonna hurt somebody." It
was always the same thing, first couple of laps,
cold tires, stupid decisions, somebody else
gets fkd! Bautista's move was pure stupidity.
The penalty was not harsh enough. We already
know what happens when this kind of behavior
keeps happening.
