It will be interesting to see how Smith goes this weekend as at this circuit the top end disadvantage of the Tech3 Mistral will be much less significant.

Cudlin with the Bimota on 14th ahead of West who got his seat with the Moriwaki. The Bimota might be not as bad as it looked so far this season. I know it was wet, but West is known for his wet skills...
I guess this guy is better than some of the regular riders

He came 7th in his first ever Moto2 race at a track he had never seen on a bike he had never ridden in a series he had never competed in. Of course he is better than most of the regulars but like Westy he doesn't come with a bag full of Euros to buy a ride. Remember when Westy trounced the regular World Supersport Riders. Since Gina Reinhart will soon be the richest person in the world I wonder if she could spare a few dollars to run some Aussies in the series. You have to wonder why Westy just doesn't ask for the championship winning Moriwaki from 2010. Its got to be better than the thing he is currently trying the bend into shape.

You are talking about Smith in third yet the standings you provide put him in 11th.
Smith was 3rd in Practise 1, Redding was 11th.
Didn't see practise two.

@mix up. The positions and times are for FP2. Because of the changeable weather in the second session, there was briefly a dry line which Espargaro used to his advantage, going out on slicks. It's difficult to draw any conclusions from these times due to the changing conditions through the session.
