MotoGP » Hayden reflects on 'decent' day one at Sachsenring

'Overall, it was a decent day. My outright lap time wasn't great, but my consistency was pretty good and we were able to make little gains on most of our exits' - Nicky Hayden

Nickys time is better than it looks. He is fast on hard tires and was one of the fastest in the wet before the track began to dry. If he keeps his tires at the beginning of the race he could earn a top four. That should make the heads of Ducati turn.

You really have to admire Nicky for keeping his head down and always giving his best...especially in light of all the drama that is emanating from the other Ducati garage.

I can only hope that if Ducati straightens out their chassis problems that Nicky is around to reap the benefits. But I'm worried the longer these issues persist the more Ducati's new owners (Audi) will want to clean house.

It does not look good for Nicky! Too much youth pushing up from beneath and only so many competitive seats. SBK may be a very good option so he can actually compete and battle for victories, rather than riding around the track on a red billboard, trying to stay on only to finish between 6-11th place.

U suck Ducati. Nicky had bad falls, crashes from your stupid bike til now you cant offer nor want to resign him? SHAME ON YOU. ROSSI WILL LEAVE U SOON!!! KARMA!! EVEN CASEY WAS LEFT HANGING. I'd rather see KAWASAKI, SUZUKI, APRILIA, & BMW THAN SEE YOUR SORRY ASSES abuse & maltreat good riders.

All the decent riders comming up are scared to go to Ducati and are waiting for something better to pan out. Hayden seems ready to sign. Ducati better hurry up before some other good team, be it MOTO GP or WSBK swoop him up. Greatest waist of talent since 2005. Even when he won the 2006 world championship he was riding a bike being built for someone else. He might have had a couple more if he had the support a champion should get. Honda, the great rapers of MOTO GP!

YamahaGYTR,

I think a Tech3 ride would be great for Nicky, too.

But, ironically, "Monster" has a personal sponsorship with Rossi and it is more likely that Rossi will be there in 2013 than Nicky.

And I just read that Nicky qualified 7th and, as usual, some 0.4 sec ahead of Vale...life is just not fair.

Go to WSBK and win some races again, maybe even a championship. Moto GP is a dead end for Hayden now. He either needs a factory Yamaha or factory Honda, obviously neither will happen. Stay with Ducati and get paid while hoping they make a step forward or bounce. Please bounce! Your to good to mire mid pack in a flailing series that is sinking fast.
