Lorenzo did a race simulation on an used hard rear tyre, consistently lapping on low-mid 48s during the whole practice, 22 laps. Awesome pace!

His rivals only closed the gap when they put on a soft rear -Hayden and Barbera- or a new hard rear -Pedrosa, Stoner, Dovi.

Valentino worst Ducati, but also the only Ducati rider to stay on the hard rear the whole session. Nicki and Hector just managed a hot lap on the softer rear before their pace dropped dramatically.

@there there now I think what we're seeing Lorenzo do now is a good indication of how he'll race. I don't think anybody other than Lorenzo has shown their race pace yet and we certainly won't see that in qualifying.

Lorenzo is faster on a worn hard rear than most of the field on fresh soft rubber. Unless somebody (Stoner?) is hiding something up their sleeve it looks like Lorenzo will win on Sunday. For me Pedrosa and Stoner will fill the podium although I'm not sure in what order.

As for the Hayden Rossi debate, I'd like to see them go out on the same tyres and have a proper race. However I have a feeling that Nicky will choose a grade softer than Vale and have no grip left at the end. Rossi seventh, Hayden somewhere behind.
