The way racing is funded is not a problem. If a rider is good he will get a sponsor. Many sponsors would rather fund a rider than a team, that way they know what they are getting. Would you sign a contract to sponsor a team without knowing who their riders were?

Imagine sponsoring a team and then finding out their rider was Karel Abraham.
